YOUR CHRIST SELF

I YOUR Christ Self, alone am. There is no other self but Me. You think you are, but you are only because I am expressing My Self through you.

All that you are at present expressing of Me, and if you feel limited and are expressing imperfectly, it is because of your still thinking you are doing it all, and because you are not letting Me come forth fully in the doing of My Will and the expressing of My Idea and Purpose for you. You are hindering and limiting my expression by thinking yourself separate from Me, and by all your wrong thoughts about yourself and your life, which are really My Self and My Life.

If you would but fix your mind and heart wholly and always on Me, waiting upon Me every moment and for everything in your life, allowing Me to direct all your thinking, speaking and acting, you would soon realize that I am your only sure power, your sole reliable support, your never failing wisdom, your unlimited resource, strength and supply, always available and ever ready to respond to your need.

When your mind and heart are thus fixed on Me, they connect your consciousness with My Consciousness, My Word then being ever heard and known by them, they truly understanding that we are One, and are not separate. Hence there is no more anything in them to hinder My perfect expression in and through you, with the result that there is perfect health, perfect harmony, and you have become a perfect instrument for My use.

BEING YOURSELF

We have been trying to prove to you first that you are not your personality, but that you are an immortal soul; and secondly that as a soul you are a Divine Being, a very Son of God, one with the Father and co-inheritor with Jesus Christ and with all other Sons of God of all that the Father has; that in you reside all the wisdom and love and power of the God-head. All these are yours to use, and but await your recognition and acceptance of this great truth, when you will begin consciously to use them. 

And how am I going to recognize and how am I going to accept and thereby to use this truth? You ask. You intellectually see and know this truth more or less clearly now, but how are you going to know it so you can use it?Think! How do you go about proving any rule or principle that you have accepted as being true? Let us see if we can show you by taking as an example how you learn to drive an automobile. Your instructor tells you the principle of the throttle, of the different speeds controlled by the gear lever, how to turn on the power and to start and stop the engine; the rules of the road and of starting on low gear first and changing to second and then to high as you attain speed, and of turning and stopping.

You hear all this and the first time it is all Greek to you. But by his repeated telling and explaining and your watching him do it, you get a more or less clear intellectual concept of it all. Does that enable you to drive the car? No, but it will help you to make a try at it, for you will have grasped one or two of the principles; and only after many trials under the careful superintendence of the instructor, and with many mistakes, you get a fairly good understanding of what is necessary to do.

But almost everyone has found that before he can get up enough Confidence to start out alone, he has to do a certain thing, and that is to sit down quietly alone and "see" or visualize himself driving the car, going through all the motions, meeting another car in some unusual emergency and knowing instantly just what to do to prevent an accident.

After several times going through the experience of such mental driving, you found actual driving would come easy.

And in like manner, when, in the silence of true meditation, "seeing" yourself an actual Son of God, with all the consciousness and powers of a Christed soul, acting, speaking and knowing as would Jesus or as would your own Divine Self in your every contact with others and in all conditions of life, — when you had thus accustomed yourself to the feeling of being such a great soul, you would then find it easy to gain control of and to drive, guide and use your personality with its mind and emotions, its body and its sensations, which you are developing and preparing to be so used, and for that purpose only.

For try to realize that is all your human personality is for — the John Smith part of you; it is only to serve — when it is finally prepared and ready as you intend it — for the use of your Christ Self in the work which you came here to do as your part in the Divine Plan. Then You — the Real of You — will enter in and possess and be your personality, be John Smith or Mary Doe; aye, be another Christ Soul walking here among men in the flesh.

THE LIGHT

Looking up into the heavens on a dark night we see millions of points of light, which science claims are suns and stars, or planets, each supposedly the dwelling-place of some kind of intelligences similar to the humanity of earth.We assume that there must be life and intelligences on these planets, else they would not shine or give out light. In reality, however, we know nothing about them, only that they shine and emit a radiant, scintillating light, some of them a much more brilliant light than others.

We like, on such a night, to imagine that the canopy of heaven is actually that—a vast black curtain spread over the earth, and that the points of light that we see are little holes in the curtain through which streams the Great Light of Heaven.Some of the holes are larger than others, permitting more light to shine through; and we like to think that during the course of ages by such powerful and continual shining the Great Light will not only wear the holes gradually larger and larger, thus permitting more and more light to penetrate, but that it will wear the curtain very thin, so that the earth eventually will be blessed by always being in the light.

Let us all ponder over the thought of this wonderful Light back of the curtain, where it is always gloriously, radiantly shining, and where no darkness or even the faintest shadow could possibly be. Such must it be in the Kingdom of Heaven, where dwell the Angels of Light, those who know not darkness or the troubles, inharmonies, sorrows, sufferings, sins, crimes and unhappiness born of and bred in the darkness of earth where we dwell. Surely this light must be striving ever so hard to penetrate through the curtain in order to give us children of darkness all the light possible.

Now let us consider men's minds, how they are in truth holes or openings into the great Universal Mind, through which the Light of God's Perfect Love is ever trying to pour in order to illumine man's consciousness. Many millions of men's minds we know are only tiny pin holes, others are fair sized apertures, while a few, comparatively, are large and wide open channels through which the light of Divine Mind pours freely, and from the light that they radiate we feel and know that they are Illumined Souls.

Now let us carry you a little farther, and say that all of these lights that we see in the heavens are in reality only reflections in the outer world of mind of the lights of our centers of Mind shining in the heavens of Consciousness within; that in very truth the dark curtain that separates us from the great Light is the curtain of our mortal minds which in their ignorance think themselves separate from the One Mind. But this curtain is only a self-created curtain and in reality exists solely because men way back in the beginning turned their backs to the Light and consequently now see in memory only the darkened reflections of the radiant bodies of their fellows that were in the beginning— before they turned to this world of shadows. 

They do not know that these shadows are caused by their belief in separation which keeps their faces ever turned away from the light so that they see only with the darkened sense of self and know no more the light that shines within.Back through the eons a few in each age awakened to the truth that they had been walking in their own shadow, and they then faced about and were flooded by the light of the sun of their own being. They learned in very truth that they were of the Light—a part of the Sun of God, could walk in Its Light, could live in that Light and could partake of all of Its blessings. 

Aye, they knew that they were Sons of Light, Sons of Mind, Sons of the God Who is The Light which lighteth every man in the world.Through the glory of the illumination that followed they learned that their minds were truly one with the One Mind, that there never was and never could be any separation—only as they turned again away from the Light.

I AM THE LIGHT (LOVE) INSIDE YOU, IN YOUR MIND AND YOUR SOUL,

WHICH YOU SEEK OUTSIDE AND DO NOT FIND SATISFACTION. YOU MUST REALIZE THAT WHAT YOU SEEK OUTSIDE WITH ALL YOUR HEART IS WITHIN YOU.

WHEN YOU STOP LISTENING TO YOUR MIND (OR THOUGHTS) AND UNDERSTAND THIS GREAT TRUTH THAT I AM WITHIN YOU AS THE LIGHT OF LOVE,

YOU WILL KNOW AND FEEL THIS LOVE IN YOUR HEART, AS A RADIANCE OF LIGHT AND IMMENSE HAPPINESS AND JOY.

SO ASK YOURSELF WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR IN EVERYTHING?

AND ALL THE ANSWERS THAT YOU SINCERELY ANSWER TO YOURSELF WILL BE IMMORTAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, OR HAPPINESS, PEACE, JOY, FREEDOM, FULFILLMENT, VALUE, TRUTH, HEALTH, WEALTH.

ALL THAT IS I - DIVINE IMPERSONAL UNIVERSAL LOVE OR LIGHT WITHIN YOU -

IT IS IN YOUR MIND.

YOU MUST FORCE YOUR DISOBEDIENT MIND, WHICH LEADS YOU TO SEEK OUTSIDE, INTO THE WORLD OF FORMS, TO TURN INSIDE, TO ME, TO YOUR DIVINE OR HIGHER SELF.

THAT IS ALL.

FOR WHO IS THE LORD YOU OR YOUR MIND.

WHEN SHE OBEYS AND, AFTER SEARCHING OUTSIDE IN FUTILITY, TURNS INSIDE - I REALIZE THAT I AM ALONE AS A LIGHT WITHIN HER, SHE KNOWS IT.

BECAUSE IT WILL BE ILLUMINATED BY THE AWARENESS THAT I AM LIKE THE LOVE WITHIN YOU WILL FEEL,

DON'T DOUBT THAT WHEN I PLACE MY HAND ON YOUR HEART, YOU WILL CRY WITH LOVE AND THEN YOU WILL KNOW THAT I AM THE LOVE IN YOUR HEART.

I AM THE LOVE IN YOUR HEART THAT YOU ARE SEARCHING FOR OUTSIDE.

THAT IS WHY YOU SUFFER. YOU WILL NOT FIND TRUE LOVE OUTSIDE UNLESS YOU FIND ME INSIDE.

FOR I AM LOVE, I AM YOUR DIVINE SELF IN YOUR HEART, THAT IS IN THE CENTER OF YOUR BEING.

THIS LOVE IS A LIGHT SO POWERFUL, SO PEACEFUL, SO SILENT AND BLISSFUL.

I AM WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR, YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR IT FROM THE BEGINNING,

YOU HAVE ALWAYS SEARCHED FOR ME, BUT YOU HAD LITTLE UNDERSTANDING OF ME, YOUR DIVINE SELF, THAT YOU HAVE SEARCHED FOR ME IN ALL FORMS,

IN THE WORLD, BUT EVERY TIME YOU SEEMED TO FIND ME, DISAPPOINTMENT AND SUFFERING CAME.

YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT FROM THE BEGINNING I HAVE BEEN LEADING YOU,

FROM ONE DISAPPOINTMENT TO ANOTHER, FROM ONE PAIN TO ANOTHER,

FROM VANITY TO VANITY,

TO PREPARE YOUR MIND AND YOUR HEART, TO RECEIVE MY LOVE.

MY LOVE IS UNITY WITH ME, YOUR DIVINE SELF.

MY LOVE IS YOU, MY IMAGE AND LIKENESS OF ME WALKING ON EARTH AS IN THE HEAVEN OF MY CONSCIOUSNESS.

THEREFORE I HAVE BEEN PREPARING YOU TO BE MY LOVE ON EARTH - CHRIST - LOVE.

FOR I AM LOVE,

WHICH IS MANIFESTED THROUGH A PURELY IMPERSONAL CHANNEL WHICH I HAVE CREATED AFTER MANY MANY GENERATIONS OF OPRESSION, SLAVERY, SUFFERING, AND THUS TEACHING HIM THAT THERE IS NOTHING OUTSIDE AND HE WAS PERMANENTLY UNITED WITH ME FOR THE PURPOSE OF MANIFESTING ME - CHRIST WALKING ON EARTH.

THUS I BRING TO ALL MY CHILDREN THE TEACHING - WHICH LEADS THEM TO ME,

TO THE LOVE FOR WHICH THEY DESIRE.

PRACTICAL WORK II.

There is no finer "occult" training for man or woman than what we now suggest—if faithfully practiced until you are master of all those thoughts and emotions which formerly played such havoc in your life.Each morning after awakening and when in full possession of your faculties, prepare yourself by an earnest saying of the Lord's prayer, in which you seek to put your soul's desire. Then try to "see" yourself actually doing the day's work that lies ahead of you in some such way as the following: First, try to realize who you are—a Son of God, in truth very God, Himself—for you know that the mind in you is His Mind—that your life, your will, your intelligence, your power to say or do anything are not yours but God's. Try to realize this Life or Power or Mind in you that is God as motivating and using you all through the day. But see clearly that the only way to KNOW it is God is to let LOVE thus use you. If you let LOVE rule and motivate every thought, word and act you will know it is God before you go very far, for a mystical assurance will come from the results that manifest which will absolutely convince you.Then "see" yourself rising from your bed in this consciousness, bathing, dressing and meeting the family in it, talking to them in it and to all whom you contact during the day, ever feeling that tender, wonderful Love in your heart inspiring and directing your every conscious act. Try to feel yourself resting in, merging into, becoming that Love, so that you see only through Its eyes, hear only with Its ears, and know thereby that Love is the essence, the substance, the animating cause and purpose of all being and expression.Seeing or imagining in this way, motivated by an intense desire to have what is imagined become a manifest reality, is an explanation of the success of all so-called "demonstrations." Realizing this you are now ready to rise and actually do what you have just visioned yourself doing. And with a silent prayer to the Loving One within—your God-self, begin your day's activities.

The proof of your "seeing" will quickly evidence itself. According to the clearness with which you previously imagined the details of your actions and of your contacts with others, will you have prepared and fortified yourself for the tests you will meet. For there will be many tests, or rather opportunities to utilize and grow accustomed to this new consciousness—this Love to which you have given yourself.So if you are greeted with words that irritate or hurt from the first of your dear ones whom you meet this morning, don't be discouraged if momentarily you are pulled from that Love consciousness and you retort in the old way. That is to show you what it means when you decide to abide in that consciousness, and that you have to be keenly on the alert every moment if you would not slip away from it again.And there will be many slips, perhaps, the first day, and the next, and the next. But that is natural and to be expected, for the Love consciousness is to be won only by acquiring true spiritual strength and thus keeping the self wholly under control. For it is the self that becomes irritated or impatient, or is hurt or grows angry, and thus tries to retain its domination over your mind and to continue its selfish life in you.But you have determined that this shall not be, and so if you persist and prove to self that you are now the master, it will gradually fall in line and begin to obey and serve you. And you who have now learned to abide and work in Love will discover that you are connected with a strength and a power and likewise with a great wisdom which, whenever there is need, you have only to call upon, and all things will be made known to you or be done for you—even the subduing of the self and getting it to recognize the Divine Power which you are.So our final word in this connection is—do not become discouraged or feel remorse, or ever allow your mind to brood over any seeming failures, for they are only temporary and are really necessary—to show you what you still lack and what must be persisted in until you conquer. Besides it is not you who grow discouraged or feel remorse—it is only your human mind, which still thinks itself separate from you and is therefore still more or less dominated by the self it has created. You—the Real You—are Love—are the God-self, who knows no weakness, no lack or limitation of any kind.

PRACTICAL WORK I.

The time has come to give definite exercises that will help to lift the consciousness to that of the Master within.Those of you who have earnestly sought to gain a realization of the meaning of the words "Be Still and Know—I AM—God," as suggested in the earlier articles and in "The Impersonal Life," may already have caught a glimpse of this consciousness, for these magical words have helped many to enter it.In order to prepare your mind for as clear an understanding as possible of what follows, reread chapters II and XVII of "The Impersonal Life." This will also help you more easily to get into the attitude of mind necessary to comply with the suggestions to be given. Then read carefully all that is stated, seeking to grasp its inner meaning, before attempting to obey any of the instructions.Stand or sit at ease in front of a mirror and look at your reflection therein. Look particularly into the eyes and try to see and note the intelligence shining out of them.Try to realize that that intelligence is your mind or soul, but that You who are Spirit are much more than that intelligence or soul, whose mind is now thoroughly alert wondering what is coming.Also realize that in very truth what you see in the mirror is but a reflection—an appearance—of what your mind thinks is You. But the Real You, being Spirit, cannot be seen, and instead is that which sees and knows all things.Now slowly and very positively—trying as you voice each word to realize fully the deep meaning and significance of the command in them—speak to that intelligence which you see looking out of the eyes in the mirror as follows (you can say it aloud or silently to yourself—whichever is the most effective to you):

"Be still and know,—I AM--God. Know that I am, and that you are not at all—as a separate being. I am not your body, mind or soul,--I am Spirit. I am that which animates you, which lives you, which is your intelligence, which is your power to be and to do all that you are and do."I am your REAL self—your ONLY self—I, the God of you. You are only a portion of My Consciousness, dwelling within a focalized center of My Mind, which you call your self. The proof is, you are nothing, know nothing, can do nothing, only as I inspire and empower you to know and do it." 

Continue thus to talk to that intelligence—saying whatever you feel led to say, letting the words speak themselves—with no thought or effort on your part. Keep on talking to it until you find that you have the full attention of your mind, that it is actually listening to you,—when you need look in the mirror no longer, but may close your eyes, for your mind is listening and you can now talk direct to it.As you continue you will suddenly realize, as your mind follows all that is said, that it is hearing some deep truths which you of yourself never knew before; and with a flash of illumination you will become mystically aware that That which is speaking is from a Consciousness that seems to know all things, that that Consciousness is I AM, God within you, the Real You, and that what is listening and hearing is what you formerly thought was you, but which is only your brain mind which believed itself separate from God's Consciousness—That which is All in all.Thus has your consciousness for the time being been lifted from the lower brain mind to your higher divine mind—its true home, where it "sees" as You, the Master, wish it to see, and it knows as You know.Try to grasp the deep significance of every word of the above, and until you do, read it over again—and still again, before proceeding to do what is required. Then practice it faithfully until you get the realization. If you are determined to get it, it will come. Practice will eventually make it easy to enter the higher consciousness at will—by simply commanding: Be still and know,—I AM—God.

IT HAS NO REALITY

AT THE present time I seem to be living in a state of consciousness, or should I say a state of knowing, that I am not a part of the earthly conditions as they exist today. I seem to be in the world, but not of it.

By that I mean that I am fully aware of these worldly conditions, but I seem to view them from a height. At times I have the sensation of floating above them, or in other words, I seem to be just an onlooker and not a part of it at all.

Sometime ago I was sitting alone on the porch in the moonlight. I got to thinking about the awful conditions that seemed to be becoming so increasingly prevalent, and was filled with sadness and sympathy for humanity in general. I was wondering why it must be, when I heard a voice say,

"My child, let not your heart be troubled, nor your head bowed down. These things do not concern you. They are not real. They are only as dreams and visions that come when you separate yourself from Me. Have done with dreaming.

"Have I not given you a glimpse of the real world, where suffering exists not? Have I not brought you to the mountaintop of understanding and given you a vision of reality? Know you not then that these conditions are but man's beliefs outmanifesting - the thought pictures he is carrying around in his consciousness, thinking they are real?"

Here the voice ceased speaking, and I seemed to be standing on a high mountain, looking down upon the world. Beside me, holding tightly my hand, was our dear Master, Christ Jesus.

We stood watching the seething mass of people rushing too and fro, each bent upon gaining his or her selfish ends. As I sensed their thoughts of hatred, envy, jealousy, greed, etc., I shuddered. Here and there among the groups of people were patches of bare space in which there appeared a glowing mist No people were visible there.

I asked Jesus what caused this glow and why were there no people in it, and He said they were there but were submerged in the light of Love, so that they were unaffected by the hard dark conditions surrounding them, which could not reach them.

The above message and its accompanying vision brought a great truth to me which explained much.

The world generally sees and is sunk in the terrible conditions that are manifesting today. Now if these conditions are man's thoughts outmanifested, when viewed in the light of Truth, as Christ and God sees them, they are not real and are but as dreams that vanish in the morning when we awake.

If men will only learn to think what God wants them to think and to do only His will, they need no more be troubled about existing conditions; for of a truth they will then be in that glowing mist where the outer darkness cannot penetrate, because they will know it is all unreal.

WINNING BACK A LOST HUSBAND

WE WANT to help in your problem and this is what comes to us:

" Instead of doing as you have been doing, forcing your mind on your husband so that he feels the pressure of your desire to have him back, truly place him altogether in the Father's hands in a simple, childlike, perfect love and trust, knowing that He knows best what is good for both you and him and will take care of everything.

If you can bring your mind to such a love and trust and will thereby let go and release him to God, wholly at peace in your heart in the knowing that God does know best, you may be sure that the best will follow.

Now here is something else. See if you can get this. All that exists in your outer world is what you now see and believe is so in your consciousness. This being so, just look at that thought-picture of your husband, of your present condition of mind, and of all that you have been doing, and see how things in the outer could not help but be as they seem to be to you.

If you really want to change what is now in the outer, you must begin definitely and positively to change your picture of husband as shown you above, also the one of your own life; must release him and turn him wholly over to God, Who will then release you likewise, and will put into your mind the thoughts He wants you to think and thereby to bring forth into manifestation.

To prove this, know that husband is a soul like you, that as a soul he lives in the inner realms of consciousness called the soul realm or mental world. Whenever you think of him, his soul immediately presents itself before you—in your consciousness. Knowing this, you can talk to him as if he were actually present, and his soul will hear.

Now, his soul is not the outer man with that stubborn mind of his. If his soul loves you, and you think it does, then by talking to his soul and explaining the whole truth, asking his forgiveness and promising to do whatever the Father and he want you to do, and truly expressing what is in your soul, not what is in your selfish mind,—the Father in him will cause his soul so to influence his mind that husband will be compelled to do the right thing, which is what you want him to do.

This must be done by you wholly impersonally, however, as one soul talking to another soul, not as one personality with its personal loves and desires wanting her own; but in a selfless desire to do only what God wants her to do and what she knows would be best for both.

Think this over, dear friend, carefully and prayerfully, and then do what you are led to do by your loving Father, and everything will come out just right.

THINKING AND CREATING

WILL try to help in the problem facing you, so that you can use the Law in money matters as well as in health and in other things.

Let us consider this Law—we will reverse the statement of it:

"What is now manifesting is the result of what you think and believe is so."

Your letter very clearly shows what you believe is so. We will repeat some of your own words: "My greatest trouble has been to collect the money have honestly earned." "Many who are willing and perfectly satisfied to accept these things as a gift to themselves, seemingly have no desire and make no effort to do their part by paying me for my services." "I am learning that this is holding me back from my spiritual progress" "It will be better for me to give up dentistry and get into some work in which I would not contact human selfishness."

It is very plain that you are holding in your consciousness these things, believing them to be so; and that according to the Law these beliefs are the real cause of such things manifesting in your life. Think this over, dear friend, and try fully to understand the significance of our words.

But you say, how can I help but see those things when I am face up against these conditions? Dear friend, these conditions exist only in your mind—not in God's Consciousness, which is your only Consciousness. It is only what you believe is so, that is so, foi you.—But it might not be so for someone else. If you can once scop thinking and believing these things are so, that we have quoted above, so much so that you will no longer see them in your mind, and instead will see yourself permanently enjoying the conditions you want to manifest, you will find that the others will disappear from your life, and peace, harmony and success will soon begin to manifest.

Now let us see if we can show you just how you can bring this about. There is only One Consciousness and it is filled with only the good and perfect things of life that were created in the beginning.

But this Consciousness is of such nature and substance that what appears in the outer can be fashioned by man's thinking, causing things to appear to be whatever he believes is so. For man is a creator, like his Father God; he creates by thinking. But he has been creating ignorantly from the beginning, not realizing that what he thinks is what outmanifests.

You have reached the age of understanding where you now know the Law. This means that knowing the Law you must either begin to think righteous thoughts—what God wants you to think, so that you can work with and for Him as He has planned—or you can suffer the results of your unrighteous thinking, as you are now doing.

That is why you are being made to suffer these conditions, so that your misuse of your Divine Power of Creation can be brought forcibly to your attention. Can you not see that the time has come for you to begin to put into practice the truths that you have learned and that the Law is compelling you to do it?

Think this all over, dear friend, staying with each statement we have made until all of its inner meaning becomes clear, and then get busy and change your thinking to the things that you want to outmanifest. The One Consciousness of God stands ready to outmanifest for you anything you think and believe is so.

THE REDEMPTION OF MAN

"AND YOU did he make alive, when ye were dead through your trespasses and sins; Wherein ye once walked accordiing to the course of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air, of the spirit that now worketh in the sons of so dedience." Eph 2:1-2

BECAUSE the we are the last days and we are approaching "the end," it becomes vitally important that as strong emphasis as possible be placed upon certain facts relative to man's nature, so that every reader of this magazine may understand them in all their true significance.

In these pages from the be mining we have been informing our readers of the different phases of the Inner Life, of their relation to the Spirit, soul and mind of man, trying to help all to comprehend their complex natures, so that they may learn to rule them and thereby to free themselves from the forces that are holding them back from their true estate as sons of God and keeping them bound to the flesh and to their emotional life.

We have shown the true character of these forces, that they are man's creations, the offspring of his ignorance and wrong understanding, given birth when the race was young and was still chiefly animal in nature; that they are therefore animal forces and elemental, but which when understood and mastered will become man's servants and will lift him to heights undreamed of in his present human state.

None of these forces are "bad" of themselves, no more than are the elemental forces of Nature, such as electricity and gravitation; they are just not understood, and when not self-controlled, they can be and often are controlled and utilized by more powerful intelligences who employ them for their own selfish ends—even as the rich often employ the poor, and capital employs labor.

But it must not be thought that all rich people and all capitalists are evil-minded or wholly selfish—they are but the products of a system that has been in existence from the beginning and they but follow the custom permitted by the laws of the land.

At the same time all men are naturally selfish, until the Spirit of Christ has been born in them; they cannot help it, because selfishness is a phase of their lower or animal nature. And the Spirit of Christ comes only when man has grown strong and wise enough to control the animal of him, exactly as an oak tree has to grow and acquire size, strength and substance from the soil, air and sunshine, and the ability to weather heat and cold and the storms and stresses of life, until it reaches its budding stage and can give forth acorns, its fruit, which is the spirit or purpose of the oak's life; even as Christ is the fruit, the spirit and the purpose of man's life.

We have shown that there is an antagonistic or opposing intelligence operating throughout all nature, recognized by manas the devil, or Satan. In an article in the January, 1934, issue of this magazine, entitled "Satan and Subversive Forces ", was shown just what is this great seductive intelligence, and how it serves as the Adversary or Tester which ever spurs man on to win freedom from its malign influence—when he once recognizes its destructive nature; which means it is the agency or power used by God to develop man's understanding, discrimination and strength.

In the inner realms of consciousness, between the outer physical and the Kingdom of God, are to be found the millions of souls of men in their various stages of development and unfoldment as human beings, and these stages constitute the path or the road all men must travel on their return journey back to their heavenly Father's home. For it must be remembered that every man is a human soul and that it is his soul that returns to God, and not the physical man; and his soul maybe of the earth, earthy—that is, bound and enmeshed in the flesh or in man's animal nature; or it may have turned away from earthly things, having learned that they do not provide satisfaction and happiness, and has either won freedom from their influence or is determined to free itself.

If the latter, the soul has started on its return journey and is more or less under the guidance of the Spirit of God.

Keeping in mind that it is the soul of man and its stage of unfoldment that is the determining influence back of man's life and actions in the outer physical world, we wish to present to our readers for their earnest consideration a series of articles on the redemption of man, showing clearly what he will meet, must conquer and pass on his way to freedom.

I AM your own Light

I AM your own inner Light, your own Self whom you do not notice, because you pay your attention to external objects, the world, because you think you will find Me there.

This misconception causes you to suffer and not find satisfaction.

I AM Here in your Heart. Here it means in the Heart, there in the mind. I AM in You the Light that shines on all objects of the whole world. You see the Light already reflected in the objects of the world, you pass the Source of Light which I AM in Your Heart.

What is that turn to That Light, to one's Self?

Knowledge of Me, knowledge of one's own light, one's own Self (Love, Goodness, Peace, Joy, Silence, Satisfaction, Freedom, Truth) That is all. It is enough to realize Me, that is to turn to Myself, to the Self, to the Source of Light which illuminates the manifested world.

Realizing that There is Good, Love, Peace, Joy in one's Heart, in one's Self. Then you will see Me everywhere, in everything. I am Everything, I am Everywhere, in Everything.

WHO AM I ? I AM That which thou hast searched for since thy baby eyes gazed wonderingly upon the world whose horizon but hides this Real Life from thee. I am That for which in thy heart thou hast clamored, demanding it as thy birthright, yet knowing not what it was or even that thou didst clamor at all. I am That which has lain in thy soul through ages and aeons.

I am That which oft hath set My heel upon the serpent of that earthly desire for which thou didst pant, and with My heel I crushed it, before it lay temptingly fulfilled before thine eyes. I crushed it with the heel of My mighty Love, because I willed not that it should burn and sting thee.

I am that Path which is ever before thee, filled with rarest flowers and world-large happiness, when the beings which thou canst feel, but not yet see, beckon thee ever, and where thou too shalt come and be the brightest among them.

I am that Being of Life, of Truth, of Wisdom, of Love, of Beauty, of Joy, of Plenty, that hovers ever about thee and sings to thy soul.

Hark one and all! All careless have you been in the weeding of your gardens; for in your beds I find the thistle thriving, in your vineyards the grape that is hard and soul.

Oh, alas for you who cast your net for fish and bring forth the slimy reptile! Beware, lest the best hopes of life cannot stir thee away from harmful ones. Evil stalketh idly, of nothing is it born, yet 'would it squirm and buzz about thine ear, and mote like obscure thine eyes and throng through thy mind and heart, ever leaving its imagery there.

Would you know, Oh my children, how your hearts shall be fed? You yourself shall be fed with My Love. Quit the longing and striving for that which is null and void. Cease from your ignorant ideas of happiness, of wisdom; from your empty desires, your thoughts insincere.

It is this that hinders thy heart from knowing My Love. It is this that prohibits thine eyes from seeing My Face. I bring thee now a light to give peace, a peace that is buried and strives to be felt. As you look from the big world within to the small world without, all things shall be well in time with you.

The Secret of Life, the Revelation of Death, the Beginning of all things, the End Everlasting Am I.

Oh My children! No heights there are that you cannot mount, if you but let My Light shine in your soul—your soul that was born of Light, and panteth to bathe again in that Light.

Oh My children! Illumined you would be, yet you seek not the Light that is in the midst of thee. Ye who seek My Light, the Sons of Light shall be, and earth shall not soil or rob you of My Glory; nor will your mind be darkened and dull; for I will beautify and quicken it with Love and with Joy. For the light of the mind is Love; the light of life is Love. Where Love is, there are contentment and peace. Where contentment is, there the fountain of peace too is playing.

Oh My Children! Ever outward looking, turn your blinded eyes within and there a world all big with Joy and Love you will find; a world made wise by My Wisdom, a world of the Real. When you gaze into My Eyes you will know that I Am All in all.

UNDERSTANDING OF THE MIND AND THE SOUL

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom; yet with all thy getting, get understanding.—Proverbs 4:7

WHAT is wisdom, and what is understanding? Wherein is wisdom different from understanding? From the authorities we learn that wisdom is the faculty of being wise, and is the power of discerning what is true, right, and best for one's highest interest, and of conforming one's conduct to it.

Understanding is that faculty and ability to reach through symbols and perceive their inner meanings; to bring forth hidden truths; to interpret to the mind what is perceived by the soul or inner consciousness.

Wisdom is a faculty of the mind gained from much experience and use. Understanding is a faculty of the soul, an inner knowing that can be called upon by illumined minds.

The word understanding of itself shows it is a knowing that lies behind or under that of the outer mind. Some claim it is the knowing of the sub- consciousness. Can we not therefore say that the subconsciousness is the knowing of the soul—yes, is the soul itself?

Of course we are speaking of true understanding and therefore of souls that truly know the subjects understood. The mind can learn to know from outer instruction, but it cannot understand without learning to listen to and be taught by the soul.

Above we said that understanding is an inner knowing that can be called upon by illumined minds. Let us consider that thought. What are illumined minds? First, we will consider what illumination is.

Have you ever, when trying to grasp some truth or to interpret the meaning hidden behind certain words or symbols, suddenly felt a light flash into the mind, illumining it and bringing with it understanding? At such times you see what you formerly had been unable to see. Where did the light come from, and what caused the meaning to become clear when before you could not grasp it?

Evidently there is a part of you that knows, and a part of you that does not know, but which is being taught as fast as is made possible by your mind earnestly seeking to know. In other words, this shows that one can get knowledge from within —yes, whatever is needed for use. For what is it that causes the mind to seek for any knowledge, if not that inner source that wishes to express forth and bring such knowledge into use?

That is what the soul is ever seeking to do— to pour light into the mind to enable it to see; but it is only certain types of mind—those of awakened souls—that listen to and heed the wishes of the soul consciously. All others are forced to learn byhard experience, through the lessons that trouble, mistakes, failure, sin, suffering, and sorrow teach.

Illumined minds are those of awakened souls that have learned to turn within and wait upon the soul in their need, and to receive the light which will guide them on their way. Yes, there are many of such minds, and more and more are learning to turn there these days of trial and tribulation, and are listening and receiving and being blessed thereby.

Commentary:

TO REINFORCE AND add to the ideas set forth in the foregoing text, we are including parts of Sun Paper No. 36, entitled "The Light,".

THIS BRINGS US to the consideration of a very important factor in the "knowing of truth." Have you grasped as yet the real purpose why we have tried so hard to explain and to reason out all these inner truths step by step to you, so that you are now accepting them as spiritual FACTS?

It is in order that the mind, which means its consciousness, will accept them. When it actually accepts and fully understands, they become a part of its consciousness, and sink into its subconsciousness, where they automatically come forth for use whenever needed.

Now, let us see if we can tell you why it is necessary to so teach the human mind, when you know its Truth in your soul. Can you not now see that all that is without exists only in the mortal mind's consciousness as picture-beliefs in their reality, and as they thus appear are not at all in your soul consciousness—where everything is ideal, all good, and all perfect?

Then is it not absolutely necessary to cleanse the mind of all these untrue beliefs and replacethem with the Truths we have been so insistently pointing out to you, before it can come into your consciousness and see and know as you know?

All its life your human reflection has believed in and has been fed upon error, until it has become completely involved in a false consciousness which it has thought to be real. All this error must be dug up and cast out, and the mind utterly freed from this demoralizing and stultifying influence.

You can get nowhere while any of it remains a part of its consciousness. Until fully cleansed, it is wholly impossible to accomplish the real work you came here to do. So you have been little by little freeing the mind from these untruths until now, with the help of these Impersonal Life Teachings, it has come to a realization of its being but a reflection, a part of your Divine Consciousness, and it is willing to give up and let You take complete charge and do Your will in and through it. Yes, itis willing to give up, even eager to do it. But it finds it cannot do it easily. Yet it sees that it must do it. —Sun Paper No. 36

THE TWO ARTICLES discuss the knowledge of both the mind and the soul, and how the seeming gap between them can be bridged. The addition of this article is hoped to bring more Light to the reader in understanding the necessity of withdrawing the center of awareness from the outer mind to an inner consciousness, which is that of the soul, where the Son of God—the Christ Self—may be heard speaking and the outer mind may be found listening.

THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS

CHRISTMAS— the Christ Mass—is the ceremony celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ two thousand years ago. It also has its personal significance for every individual soul, according to the extent to which the soul responds to the Spirit of Christmas.

What is the Spirit of Christmas? It can be only one thing— Selfless Love. Did you know that at every Christmas time Selfless Love is born in many hearts? It is the special and most auspicious time for Its birth.

Has It been born in your heart, dear reader? Do you feel It in your heart? Do you know what we mean?

What is Selfless Love? It is Something in you that makes you love and want to help others— no matter who they are; the more anyone needs help, the more you feel it. It is a living Something in your heart, an actual feeling there of Something always trying to get out and give of Itself. It is so alive and pressing that sometimes it almost hurts your heart.

What is this living, insistent Something we have called Selfless Love—the Spirit of Christmas? Why It is our Lord Jesus Christ dwelling in the heart (not the physical heart—it really means the soul); whether newly born as the Christ Child, crying for attention and care: or as a lusty, active boy, exuberantly bringing sunshine into the lives of all he meets; or as a strong, dominating, loving Presence ruling your life and influencing and blessing many others.

Again we ask, has He been born in your heart? Do you recognize Him there? Are you waiting upon, caring for Him, following His every suggestion, concerned only that you are doing what He wants you to do? If so, we know He is there, and so do you.

If you do not feel that kind, gentle, loving Presence within you—if you do not know He is there, but you wish He were there, just know He has not yet come to birth in your heart. But He is near, is deep within— some call it above, where you cannot yet feel Him; yet He is watching over you and preparing you for His advent, even as the life in the bud is preparing to open and unfold the blossom.

You who long for Him to come, get ready to welcome Him this Christmas time, by keeping mind and heart wide open to every leading of Selfless Love. Watch for Its voice and seek not to miss Its slightest whisper. He will not disappoint any such.

You who are already aware of Him within, who are waiting upon Him and desire to give Him full opportunity to express Himself this year, join with your Brothers in the Kingdom to make this Christmas the most blessed one that has ever been.

Let the Spirit of Christmas fill and bless the lives of everyone who reads these words, and of every loving soul, is our Prayer to Him this year.

MEDITATION

With many meditation seems to be quite a problem. Some deem it a task and approach it with hesitancy and some reluctance, because of strain in previous attempts, or of not getting any apparent results.Others think they cannot find the time for regular meditation. It is not so difficult to find the time; meditation can be made part of a well ordered life as easily as can any other factor. System, that manifestation of the harmony and rhythm of the universe in the affairs of men, will provide the time and the way, if given the opportunity by your earnestly desiring it.True meditation is the simplest and most natural thing in the world, because it is but a retiring into the quiet of the soul, a letting go in the mind of all outer things and relapsing into a peace and a rest in which the Spirit can come forth and speak to the mind. If you only know it, many times a day do you meditate—when your mind dwells upon things in which the personal self is interested. When that part of you is really concerned about a thing, your mind automatically obeys and dwells upon and ponders over that thing until its interest is appeased (worrying, being anxious, grieving, and such are all negative, unconscious meditation). Thus you can see that meditation is natural and in no way difficult. It only appears difficult because the human mind, which has been accustomed to having its own way and to thinking of only the personal things in which it is interested, rebels against restraint, particularly when required to think of impersonal and abstract things that you are interested in and wish light upon (purposeful thinking is positive and conscious meditation). We will try to indicate more clearly what we mean.In "The Impersonal Life" you are shown that it is really God who is living in your body and is your Real Self, and that you are of no importance whatsoever, either to yourself or to the world at large, until you recognize this great truth in a more or less conscious and intelligent way. This of course is not easy to grasp by a mind that considers you and itself separate and apart from God.

Now consider that the life that grew you and is living you is the same life that is growing the grass, the flowers, the trees, the animals and all humanity, and is so wise and powerful a life that despite every obstacle it develops all to the maturity of that which it is their destiny to be. Did you or anyone of these others have any conscious part in the direction of or actual process of such growing? You know that you did not, and you know that this life and intelligence and will doing it all is God—Who is All in all.Now try to realize that this life that is growing you, this mind that is intelligently directing all, and this will whose power is accomplishing all, is actually God and cannot be you or anyone else. Try to perceive the great truth of this by imagining how it must be.To do this you must lift your mind away from this page and meditate upon what has been stated, and if you are greatly interested, you will find your attention fixed upon this life within you, imagining it as God living in your body, a very wise and loving Consciousness filling and possessing it, moving it and causing it to do what He wants it to do. And it will gradually dawn upon you that the part of you that is considering all this is only your mind, and then in a wondrously illuminating way it may flash into your consciousness that therefore you are not at all what you before thought was the you living in your body, but that it is a much bigger and more wonderful you—that it is God! that God is the Real You!! and that the other you is but a part of His Mind—a center of His Consciousness that before had thought itself separate from Him. If you have truly followed this and actually caused your mind to consider and do everything suggested, some illumination must have resulted, for the God of you would surely respond to a heart earnestly desiring to know Him. The above would be real meditation, and real inner work, as you will by this time have realized.

All meditation is nothing more nor less than a pondering over or reflecting upon any subject to which you direct your mind's attention. The reason we urge the use of meditation is two-fold: that you can cultivate the power and ability to require your mind to consider thoroughly any subject you wish it to understand fully, realizing that as you hold the subject firmly before your mind's eye, light will pour in, enabling you to see it from many angles. Also that your mind may gradually learn who you are—learn of your inner self—and that it, the mind, is your child, your instrument that you are teaching, training and disciplining so that it will serve you selflessly and efficiently.Until you have disciplined your mind, you cannot control your thoughts, and as by being able to control your thoughts you can control your emotions, you can then bring your body into harmony; for its health is largely controlled by the emotions or feelings harbored in the heart.When you become more or less master of your mind and dedicate it to the service of the Christ— your God-Self, your real work begins; for all such earnest ones are accepted and put to that work for which they have been fitted and prepared.But not until the mind is thoroughly under control can real work be given. Real work awaits, but it will be mental work—in the Silence and at night, when the brain minds of those who seek and need help are still, so their souls can hear and accept. Such Real Work will be given when you are ready.

I AM everything you ever desire. I AM all your desire. I AM the fulfillment of your desire – the desire for ME. I AM everything you ever desire, but you fulfill your desire by searching outside – in the world. The world is an illusion, therefore it cannot give you what you truly want – what you desire. Therefore you suffer to learn what the world cannot give you, True LOVE for ME.

I AM TRULY WHAT YOU DESIRE. I AM YOUR ONE DIVINE SELF, I AM IN YOUR HEART AND I WAIT FOR YOU TO FIND ME BY TURNING FROM THE WORLD OF FORM INWARD TO YOURSELF - TO ME, TO YOUR DIVINE SELF.

TO TURN MEANS YOU WILL REALIZE THAT ONLY WITHIN YOU IS ALL THAT YOU DESIRE - LOVE, JOY, BEAUTY, PEACE, TRUTH, ALL THE RICHES OF MY LOVE THAT WERE ALWAYS THERE, BUT YOU DID NOT NOTICE IT, BEAUTIFULLY ENCHANTED BY THE APPEARANCE OF THE WORLD OF FORM.

BY UNION WITH ME, YOUR SEPARATE ILLUSORY IMAGE OF YOURSELF WILL DISSOLVE LIKE DARKNESS IN LIGHT.

MY DIVINE SELF SHINES IN YOUR HEART OF AWARENESS – IN YOUR MIND AS I AM I.

THEN THE WORLD WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH ALL YOU NEED, BECAUSE THE WORLD IS I. THEN YOU WILL KNOW ME IN ALL FORMS, IN ALL THAT IS, FOR I AM ALL THAT IS. FOR I AM IN ALL FORMS AND BEYOND THE FORMS AS THEIR ESSENCE.

WITH THIS AWARENESS I WILL SHINE IN YOUR HEART LIKE THE SUN AND CALL MY OTHER CHILDREN HOME TO ME, TO THEIR DIVINE SELF IN THEIR HEARTS.

AND SO WE WILL ALL BE ONE, AS I INTENDED FROM THE BEGINNING.

HEALING THOUGHT

Matter is not sensation, intelligence, nor substance. The race belief in sickness, sin and death, cannot affect Spirit, which is alone real. I am Spirit, or Life in action. I image Spirit in thought, and live in the likeness of Life. That through which God works to will and to do, cannot be imperfect. Truthful expressions are in the image of God, and are one with the Father-the Expressor.

It is the will of the Father that none should suffer. His ideas, which are

souls, are perfect. Therefore I deny all beliefs of imperfection, weakness and limitation from me, and affirm wholeness, strength and power for myself. I affirm that the kingdom is within, and that there is nothing wrong, no lack of power, within me. No false belief environs or limits me, no shadow darkens my mental vision.

God pervades his holy temple at this time. I cannot get out of harmony, for where the Father is, there is perfect peace and rest. I cannot get out of health, for the Father is in me, around me, above me, and everywhere. This is speaking the word and doing the will of the Father. I am at rest in him.

ANSWERS TO THE SEVEN QUESTIONS IN LESSON 45

By a Student

(1) ARE YOU sure you have found and are now being taught by the Comforter, your Christ Self? Explain why you are sure.

Yes, M........is sure. She has found Me—I AM her Comforter, and am now her only Teacher. I alone give her peace and assurance when problems assail. When she says I AM this or that —truly knowing Me as such, I AM her life, her health, her strength, her all; for I Alone AM, and she now knows that she is not at all.

(2) Are you looking to Him as your supreme Teacher and Authority, and depending upon no one else? What comes to you as a result?

Yes, M........is depending upon Me more and more each day— she now realizes What and Who I AM, and comes to me sooner or later with every problem, knowing now that I AM her Supply, her Guide, her only Authority, and that My Word is sufficient and the final word for her. Then she is filled with great Joy and is so happy that she wants to help all others find this same Joy.

(3) Are you able to command your human mind to "Be still, and know, I AM, God," and then know that you are the "I AM" Who commands, and that you and God are One? How can you prove this?

Yes. Yes, more and more she is able to quiet her mind with My Words, "Be still, and know, I AM, God," and instantly she realizes Me as I AM, and that it is I thus speaking, stilling all in the outer so that it vanishes and there is just I—and all is Light and Love.

She used to ask Me for help, but now does it very seldom, and when she does she immediately realizes she is I and We are One, and she is all there is, and therefore does not need to ask herself for anything, for she is all there is, and all there is is hers.

When she speaks the Word for another a Light appears that she knows is I AM—is I AM in that other, and she knows all is taken care of. I have proved it to her often of late.

(4) Are you sure you have found the Kingdom, and can you abide in it for any length of time? What does the Kingdom mean to you when you are in Its Consciousness?

Yes. The time of abiding is getting longer each time she comes to Me. She loses all sense of her body and mind and ascends into a great vastness of pastel shades of pink and blue, which she calls Love, and which I AM; and there she rests, waits in such peace that she sees Beauty, Goodness, Holiness everywhere, feels Oneness with all, realizes Abundance of all Good, Wholeness and Perfection—for she knows that I AM ALL, and I have All.

(5) Can you truly see Christ, the Higher Self, and Good or God, in everyone and in every thing and condition around you? What is this "seeing" doing to and for you?

Yes, M........ is beginning to see Me more and more in everyone, in every thing and every condition. It makes her gently tolerant and understanding with all. In some she sees Christ in them trying to express, and soon all things that she once saw in their personalities vanishes, and all concern leaves and she is at peace and joyous, because of seeing Me in them.

She has wondered why she was placed in so much seeming confusion at this particular time, so she sat down to think it through As she did so she picked up her Impersonal Life, it opened to the chapter on "Soul Mates," and she was led to read the three paragraphs, as follows:

"Perhaps the particular position in life you now occupy you do not think the best adapted for the expression of My Idea surging within you.

"If so, then why not step out of that position into the one of your choice?"

"The mere fact that you cannot or do not do this proves that at this time such position is the one best suited to awaken in you certain qualities necessary for My perfect expression, and that I, your own Self, AM compelling you to remain therein, until you can recognize My Purpose and Meaning hidden within the power such position has to disturb your Deace of mind and keep you thus dissatisfied."

She then asked, "Show me Thy Meaning and Purpose for me," hearing these words in reply:

"Patience, My child; you are trying to express Me to the fullest of your understanding. It is in this very of condition of confusion that I AM showing you the weaknesses and qualities that still need to be overcome, so that there can be a complete surrender to My Will."

Then I gave her a glimpse of Me handling this condition, until all concern had left and she was content to leave all to Me. From this experience she will be able to see Me more clearly in all conditions, things and people, and know she is in Me, I in her, and I in All.

(6) Have you had an inner experiences—dreams or visions— in which you were with others robed in white? In them did you see the Lord Jesus? Describe such experiences and what they meant for you at the time.

Yes—dreams. She did not see Jesus Christ, but she knew she was I—the Christ of her. She seemed to be, in the most recent experience, in front of a great mass of people, all of whom were dressed in white and facing her. She was there but was without form—was only a glorious, radiant Light. The people (all the thoughts in her consciousness) were in perfect order facing her. Yet no self was visible to them.

(7) Describe just what this Work means to you, what it has done for you and what you deem It to be.

This Work is a Spiritual Work done through Selfless Love and Wisdom.

When we are all able to withdraw from our mind and body consciousness and enter into the Christ Consciousness as It teaches us to do, we are shown what is, and are enabled to do, our inner work, knowing now that all is God and that "My Father and I are One."

It has lifted me (not entirely) from self consciousness to Selfless Consciousness, and I know I AM. It is such a joy to be able to have such realization of God. His Holy Spirit, the Christ, I now know is the Light shining in the midst of me, and as I AM, He is the REAL Self of me, and I am learning to let Him shine always. GOLDEN LAW 

"What you think, feel and believe to be so (what is true for you), manifests (manifests) in your body, affairs, things, your world." 

So be careful what you think, what you feel and what you believe, otherwise you will live it, in your world. 

Stand guard at the gate of your consciousness of your mind and check (that is, do not let) any negative thought, word, feeling, emotion and action into your house of consciousness (mind).

Think only of good and perfect (kind, joyful, constructive) thoughts that you want to manifest in your life.

You are the Conscious Creator of your reality. 

See in everything and everyone only the good and perfection (that which is the only real) and refuse to believe the appearance that appears in your mind and other minds as a mirage - it is an illusion - an untruth.

Remember the real man is the soul which is good and perfect as God created it in the beginning. The real reality is oneness and the only problem is the wrong vision of the separate mind which interprets reality separately.

Now if you are ready to hear the law, we will state it in words that everyone can understand.Note these words, and let them impress themselves on you, so that from this moment ever afterward they will live in your mind as a guiding influence."WHATEVER YOU THINK AND HOLD IN CONSCIOUSNESS AS BEING SO, OUT-MANIFESTS ITSELF IN YOUR BODY OR AFFAIRS." Whether you accept this as yet or not, consider for a while the truth that every thought you think, especially those relating in any way to self, hovers around in your mental atmosphere, just as a child stays close to its parent. These thoughts being about yourself receive the life that maintains them from the feeling that you put into them.In other words, the thoughts themselves are but mental forms, but when you think them with feeling of any kind you fill these forms with life and they become as living things which ever return to you, their parent, to be fed with more living power. For all feeling expressed is life, is vital power, and if you only knew it, all the thoughts which persistently influence your mind and harass you, are only your mental children clamoring for food and attention, and compelling more worrying, anxiety, or fear from you; all of which are excellent food containing rich vital power, and which makes them grow rapidly, until they become so powerful that in time they dominate your mind so that you can scarcely think of anything else.When the fact is, these thoughts exist to you only when you let them into your mind — that is, they are of importance to you only when you give them attention and recognition. But on the other hand, their power over you and their life can quickly be nullified by simply knowing the law, and refusing to feed them longer with life power by giving them further attention or interest.

And it should not be necessary to state that voicing such thoughts definitely and speedily out-manifests them, for the spoken word is far more potent than the thought. Above all else you should guard carefully your speech, voicing nothing you do not want to see manifest. Always remember, however, that by preventing such thoughts entering the mind there will be no impulse to voice them.So that you can see now that it is all a matter of consciousness, of thinking and harboring the right kind of thoughts — those you wish to out-manifest, and of letting into your mind no thoughts you do not want to manifest in your body or affairs.And perhaps you can also see that what is ordinarily called thinking is only the admitting into your mind of thoughts that originated chiefly in other minds and which you, of course, attracted to you. This is also true of all negative, inharmonious and destructive thoughts — there must be something in you that attracts them or they would not come.Many will still permit them to come, for only by the suffering, hardship and struggle to escape from their influence that you undergo, will you learn how to free yourself and gain the power to control and consciously direct your life to constructive ends.That is the hard way, but we are now going to show you the true way to free yourself forever from fear and worry about finances, and from all other destructive forces.We are assuming that all who read are students and followers of Christ's teachings. You remember those significant words of His in the Sermon on the Mount.

"Take no thought (or be not anxious) saying, what shall we eat, or what shall we drink, or wherewithal shall we be clothed;For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

But seek ye first the Kingdom (Consciousness) of God, and His righteousness (Right Ideas); and all these things will be added unto you."

We know that these words seem important to you, but we also know that very few take them as actual promises and try definitely and determinedly to put them to the proof.But that is the very thing you must do, if you would obey the law; and when we show you how to free yourself from fear and worry you will not only be able to free yourself from the power money has over you, but you will have found the straight and narrow way to the Kingdom. And all the powers of the Kingdom will help you, if you are strong and determined enough to win the goal. For the Kingdom of God and His righteousness is only a state of consciousness where we do right thinking – where we think God's thoughts only.Can you do that? Surely you can — if you will. Then this is the way:

THE WAY you must train yourself to STAND GUARD CONTINUALLY AT THE DOOR OF YOUR MIND, AND TO LET IN NO THOUGHTS OR FEELINGS THAT YOU DO NOT WANT TO OUTMANIFEST.

Think this over carefully, and you will see that it is the only way.

WISDOM AND DISCRIMINATION

And now we wish to talk with you about Wisdom and Discrimination, the highest attainments of the human soul and which can be acquired only through the fullest unfoldment of the Love Consciousness.

What is Wisdom? It is Divine Knowing, the Knowing of your Christ Self.

What is Discrimination? It is the ability to listen and know unerringly when the Christ Self speaks and to know His meaning and will for you.

Have you gained that Knowing, and are you absolutely sure when your Christ Self speaks and that you understand His meaning?

If not, then you can see how important it is that you gain the ability to retire into the consciousness of your Christ Self at will, there to see with His eyes and to know with His understanding what is necessary for you to know.

There are no surer teachings how to do this than those given in The Impersonal Life, supplemented by those in the Papers. Therefore we urge one and all who are not now studying it to get out the book and in the light of the consciousness you are now in, to go over it again slowly and carefully, listening to what the Loving One within says while you read.

Remember, it is the chief textbook of this Work and that because of your interest in its truths were you invited to journey with us to the Kingdom, in order that you might prove these truths and build them into your consciousness and life.

We are receiving letters constantly from new and old students in the Work, saying that in the book is contained all Truth, and that one needs no other teachings—if he follows faithfully and always obeys what is so plainly shown therein must be done—to attain union with God and to work in His Kingdom. The lessons in the Papers are only to help make its teachings clearer to those who have not the patience or the persistence to stay with those in the book until they have made their truths a part of their lives.

This being so, maybe if you will now turn to it, with the help and the greater understanding received during the past four years, you may find in it just what is needed to give the final push that will enable you to reach the Kingdom and walk through into Its Glory and Blessings.

If you can only realize it, few even now are able fully to comprehend the great significance of its Message, which is first, to bring your human mind into a full recognition of You, its Divine Teacher—the Comforter within; and second, to teach it without the peradventure of a doubt when You speak, and not when self or some other voice that is seeking to mislead and deceive you.

This, we are finding, is the great need at this particular time; for as disciples approach the Kingdom, the enemy becomes more subtle and more determined in his efforts to prevent them reaching it. On the other hand, it is absolutely necessary that every soul be so cleansed of every taint of self, and at the same time will have gained sufficient Wisdom and have developed the faculty of Discrimination, that nothing can tempt them, cause them to doubt or be misled in any way from the straight and narrow path that leads to the Kingdom.

Remember, you cannot enter and abide in the Kingdom until you have met and conquered every temptation that the enemy can bring to you, and you may be sure there will be brought everything that will thoroughly test your Wisdom, Discrimination and Strength of Will, as well as prove that there are no qualities of self still remaining.

And be not dismayed or discouraged at failure, for every failure is but to show you what you still lack and to give you the opportunity to study self the more, so as to learn how better to discipline and prepare it for the next test. Only thus can you gain the strength and what else is needed to withstand all the assaults of the enemy.

Try to understand that the entering and abiding in the Kingdom is for those only who have thus fully proven themselves—yea, it is for those only who have mastered self, so that it has become their loving and obedient servant. Such are called Masters for that sole reason.

Yet to be Master of self is not sufficient. It must come first; but it is not all—self must lose itself, must merge into the Christ Self, and become One with You, a Son of God.

Those who have not truly found that Self, that All-loving, All-wise Something within, which always knows and will always point them the true way, when they can make self and its desires stand aside so they can listen and hear what Its quiet, gentle voice says, have failed to gain something most precious, something greater than all the occult powers of the greatest adept in the world. For they have not yet found the Comforter, the Blessed Christ within, Who knows all things, has all powers, and will lead them unto all Truth. It is He alone that leads all true disciples to and establishes them in the Kingdom.

True unchainedness came with the realization that I was never chained... Such a simple and yet complex path, tested by everyday life circumstances, to a life unchained by anything...

Unchainedness stems from your inner setting...As long as you want to believe that someone or something is chaining you, then you will be chained. As long as you want to believe in the limitations that bind you, then you will be bound. The decision is only up to you.

Unchainedness comes with a quiet mind...With a quiet mind, immersed in the heart, all illusions leave, silence, calm, peace, joy, Love remain... Unchainedness

Unchainedness is adult responsibility for one's life, for one's decisions, without fear and without guilt... I am unchained, a light unto myself..., I am not dependent on light from "outside", and so I am without binding attachments and expectations...

ILLUMINATION

THE WAY AND WILL OF UNIVERSAL SPIRIT REVEALED

TO THE INDIVIDUAL

1. In the silent, soundless Presence, there is a still small voice which speaks and says, "Be thou (O Son of my Being), instructed in wisdom's way; know thou this truth, that I am forever and forever One, Infinite, and indivisible ; and the WAY OF ONE, is the way of unity forever-more. If thy thought doth abide in the Unity of my way, thy decisions will be illumined with mine own truth, which leadeth into my kingdom of perfect Goodness, where all good doth abide forever and forever.

2. Live thou in the way of truth ; it forsaketh thee never, and surely doth it lead unto Me; so shalt thou come unto, and dwell safely in me, and thou shalt share the wealth of my kingdom. My love, and my faith, and my goodness, shall be thine now and forevermore ; nor wilt thou know fear, nor pain, nor sorrow.

3. Unite thy way to wisdom 's way, and more and more shall thine understanding increase into a perfect whole. So shalt thou truly dwell in the land of freedom, where reality and perfection doth abide forever and forever.

4. Let not thy thought depart from Me, and wander in the fertile land of effects. Image My love and My truth in thought, seal it to Me, as reality is sealed to Me, as father and son, or mother and child, are sealed, the one to the other; as Infinite Mind and idea, and idea and thought, are sealed, the one to the other. So shalt thy way be clear, and thy charge be light.

5. Thou wilt ever gather fruit from the way in which attention is directed by thy thought-by the way in which it lights thy mental vision.

Let not thy thought turn from understanding, out of wisdom's way, for unity leadeth into My kingdom; so shalt thou enter by that way, and gather the golden fruit thereof in thine experience. Full is that consciousness which understands that I AM All in All, and that it is in Me and I in it. In this truth all is contained: on this tree of life hangs the golden fruit of My kingdom, which is for all who will partake.

6. Oh son of my Being, if thou wouldst be instructed further in the way of Unity and wisdom, know thou this truth: that My love and will, My purpose, and My thought, must be made thine; I, being Infinite, cannot be less than All. My idea can be known only as perfect and Infinite. My expressions are images like unto Myself, nor canst thou abide in truth, and justice, and love, without consciously abiding in My way.

7. Adjust thou all thy ways unto Me; hold thy thought in the perfect idea and consciousness; so verily shalt thou come unto Me, and dwell safely in Me, and know that as thou art in Me, and that I AM in thee, much fruit will result therefrom, to feed my children which do hunger and thirst after righteousness. I AM One, and My kingdom is one. Walk thou, dear one, in the way of Unity, and thou shalt know the wholeness of My Being, and the harmony of My way, which is Unity, Love, One-ness and Atonement, now and forever."

MOTHER-IN-LAWS

THERE is no doubt but what you were brought to your mother-in-law's home for the soul qualities you needed to develop and for the opportunity it gave you for attaining the understanding and the love you needed to express. That was a wonderful truth taught you when it was shown that your mother-in-law symbolizes your lower self. In other words you were shown clearly the qualitics in yourself that still remain. How can that be? What you saw in her was what your mind pictured as being so. What is your mind? But the sum total of what you be lieve or have thought and built into your consciousness and hold there as so—whether it is true or untrue.

The Impersonal Lessons are for the sole purpose of teaching your mind the truth and cleansing it from all error. The chief truth it is impressing upon you is that God is All in all that God is in your mother-in-law as much as He is in you, that you are both formed in the image and likeness of God so that He can express His perfection through you. But through wrong teachings and beliefs acquired back through the ages your soul has built up an imperfect body in its consciousness and likewise wrong beliefs about all other people. Yet in their reality these people are all in the image and likeness of God.

When you failed, because of these wrong ideas and because you were not putting into practice the truths in the Impersonal Lessons, this experience was given you in order that these wrong ideas and mind pictures be shown you. This was accomplished through your mother-in-law flaunting all those qualities of hers before you. Were they not in you you would not have seen them; that is, if they were not in your mind as wrong beliefs you would not have seen them. In other words, the conditions in the home are only what you think they are—are what you see them to be in your mind. But they are not so in reality, or in God's mind, of in the consciousness of your real self—that image and likeness self of the Christ You. Can you see that?

Then what is your job? You must change that picture of your mother-in-law you are carrying around in your mind, by determinedly seeing the Christ Self of her. How can you do this? Whenever the old feeling and picture trie to get into your mind immediately turn from it to the new picture - one like that lovely and dear mother of yours you knew when a child.

First, however, meditate long and earnestly upon the real self of her until you make it a very clear picture in your mind, filling it and surrounding it whit your love and yearning to make it real.

If you truly yearn to do this, the hepl will be given you by your Christ Self, and by persisting in looking at that beautiful and wonderful picture of her, and refusing any longer to see feed the old picture, you will find an amazing change taking place in her because, when you change your consciousness of her the manifestation must change. That is the law, and when you work whit the Law, the Law will work with and for you.

SEARCH FOR LOVE 

The journey of seeking love in the outer world was a suffering for the "something" that sought that love. 

The suffering increased with the futile effort to find love. Whether it was love for people or for things. It always ended in disappointment. 

That "something" sought love that is permanent, eternal, unchanging in a world that is impermanent, changeable. 

The sweet hope that a certain person could love that "something" lit up its face with the light of joy that it would receive love. Deep disappointment at rejection. 

The sweet hope that the mediator in God's temple would provide God's love lit up the heart of that "something" with light. Deep disappointment at rejection.

That was the end of the search. That "something" decided to end its existence.

That night tears flowed in torrents, heart-rending weeping poured from the heart. That "something" died.

The morning was Peace and Serenity. The sun shone in my face, The Light was so beautiful, brilliant. 

New Life, Rebirth, Love. 

Love radiated from the inside out, tears of love flowed onto the pillow, I was LOVE.

I realized that I AM LOVE. 

I have risen from the dead to Eternal Life.

FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness is more powerful than all evil (selfishness and greed). Forgiveness is more powerful than all evil in the human mind, because it does not repay evil with evil. It does not repay evil with evil, but with Love, that is why forgiveness is more powerful, because it does not pass on evil. Forgiveness is more powerful than evil, because Love does not pass on evil. With that, evil ends, it no longer spreads further. Therefore, the one who is in Love and is the Love of the Father, is more powerful than all evil (selfishness and greed), because evil ends here. In the light of Love, the darkness of evil is not. The one who is Love is Christ - the Light - the Logos.

BAPTISM BY THE SPIRIT

Infinite Spirit's instruction to the individual: Thou art my very self manifest. I AM thy life, power and substance; I live in thee, and thou by Me; and we can never be separated.

Thou hast not at any time fallen or wandered away from Me. My being thy life is, and thou hast no other life or being; for I AM everywhere, and include all within Myself.

Thou art good, because I AM goodness; thou art living, because I AM life ; thou art loving, for I AM love ; thou art true, for I AM truth; thou art impersonal, for I AM infinite and no respecter of persons; thou art created in righteousness and true holiness, for thou art created within Myself, and art Myself manifest.

Dear child of My being! Speak My word for thyself, by claiming wholeness for thyself. Awake from thy dream of sense, and know that thou art within My kingdom at this time, and know that thou art radiant within and without with My Being; thou art clothed with the Sun of Truth now.

Make thine eye single to Me, and thou wilt know that thou art full of light. Believe in Me, and manifest Me in all thy ways, and I will direct thy path. Recognize absolute goodness and see naught but goodness, and thou shalt have dominion over all manifestation; for he that doeth My will cometh to Me, and shall do the things that I do, and realize the peace which passeth understanding, which I alone possess. Thou art at this time whole and complete and lack nothing, for I AM thy sufficiency.

All who realize the truth of these instructions may use them successfully as a baptism to bless others, and help those who need to realize their union with God. Let your blessings rest upon all alike; be ye doers of the word and not hearers only, and your way will be made clear.

THE ELECT

IN STARTING this year of 1936(2026) we feel we are entering upon one of the most momentous periods of humanity's existence; for all things point to the next twelve months bringing the end of the Old Order and the beginning of a New Order, one beyond the capacity of present humanity to comprehend in all its significance.

It therefore behooves all who appreciate this and who sense somewhat its vital import to begin to take an inventory of their affairs as it were, and to "clean house" and prepare for the new and unknown state that awaits, so that they may be wholly fit and ready when it comes.

We will try and point out some things that are necessary in order wisely and surely to prepare oneself to be a part of the New Order—those of us who more than anything else want to be a part of It. Of course we refer to those who are truly making the finding of the Kingdom first and supreme in their thoughts, and to them only. For only they will be of that Order. Mistake not that fact.

How do we know? By the words of our Lord Jesus Christ. Did He not say very definitely, "Seek ye FIRST the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all things else will be added?"

And did He not, when His disciples asked Him to tell what shall be the sign of His coming and of the end of the Age, then tell of the remarkable signs related in the 24th Chapter of Matthew; after which He added:

"And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of Heaven with power and great glory.

"And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."

"Verily, I say unto you. This age shall not pass away till all these things be fulfilled."

Now we wish to suggest a new interpretation of these words, which may give you a glimpse of a meaning not before considered.

Have you wondered what will be the "sign of the Son of man in heaven?" Have you thought that heaven may mean the heaven or spiritual heights of man's consciousness, and that it is there, in that heaven of each of His Elect, where the Son of man (Jesus Christ, the Son of God or Higher Self of each man who is of the Elect) shall come? And have you realized that this Son of man—the Only Begotten Son in every Christed man—has already come to many, and is rapidly coming to many more preceding the end of the Age? And to all such does He come "in the clouds"—the heaven of the mortal mind, "with power and great glory." Many can testify to that these days.

Because we feel that in September, 1936(2026), will be a very important occurrence, perhaps even the culmination and closing time of His Coming—considered from this viewpoint, we are taking this occasion to impress upon our readers once more this most significant meaning, that they may consider it in all the aspects we herein indicate.

WHO ARE the Elect? They are those who have elected Christ as their Lord and Master, and Whom only they look to and are following. By that we mean—they are following the Christ within, their own Divine Self, and no other Teacher or Authority.

Are you doing that? Are you sure? Then you are one of the Elect. If you arc not wholly doing it now, you still have the opportunity of doing it before September, 1936(2026); for maybe at that time "we that are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord."— 1 Thes. 4:17.

It is more than possible; for the "Great Tribulation" which precedes His Coming may be what the world has been going through the past six years, and the "Battle of Armageddon" may be the final economic battle that will be fought before September between the forces of righteousness and those of the darkness, the latter of which, led by Anti-Christ, are now trying to get control of the world. And who will say that Anti-Christ is not now manifest in the world, and is not almost in complete control? Think this over, you who believe in the Pyramid and Bible prophesies.

This being possible and that we may now indeed be in the "Last Days," read carefully verses 36 to 51 in Matthew 24, noting particularly the following:

"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no not the angels of heaven, but my Father only;" how some shall be taken and others left; and how we are to "watch, for we know not what hour your Lord doth come."

Yes, dear friends, it is your Lord you must watch for—watch very carefully. For He may call you any hour, any moment! And you must not be so engrossed in selfish material interests, indulging so thoughtlessly in the pleasures of the senses, that you cannot hear His silent Voice within, cannot get His leading and heed it, when He would save you from disaster when it befalls your city or community. For it would seem that the "Great Tribulation" must culminate outwardly in some such form.

How are you to prepare yourself? By this moment beginning to wait upon and serve your Lord to the exclusion of everything else; keeping mind and heart ever fixed on Him, seeking to please Him in every word and deed, having no other thought than that. By so doing you link your consciousness with His, and it is then wide open to receive His instruction and guidance. And you may be sure He will take care of His own.

Need we tell you again Who is your Lord—that He is your own Divine Self—God within you? That He is not only the I AM of you, but He is Jesus Christ, Divine Love, the Holy Spirit of God?

No, not Jesus Christ the man, who was born, lived and was crucified nineteen hundred years ago; but the Comforter Whom He promised to send in His Name, Who would teach you all things and lead you unto all truth.

If He has come to you, and you have recognized and accepted Him as your Christ and Lord, and you KNOW Him as He IS—that He is in the Father, and you in Him, and He m you; then you are truly of the Elect, and you know that all that the Father hath is yours.

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST 

One day in the summer of 2011 I was in deep love for God and Christ it was noon and I was lying on the grass. I was crying with love, my heart overflowing with love for God.

When I looked at the sky and the sun that was above me, a glow of light began to approach from the sun that was not dazzling so I looked and slowly that glow approached me. And in that glow of light I saw Jesus Christ slowly descending towards me. I was lying in the grass and He slowly descended until He was face to face with me. He smiled and slowly merged with me. It was pure LOVE that flooded me.

Ten years later in 2021, when I was in the noon service, I was accepted by the Brotherhood of Christ and there it was confirmed to me that this experience was an individual second coming of Christ. That Christ, the Holy Spirit, descended from the soul into the mind and began to teach the mind that became a disciple of Christ. And so for ten years my mind was taught by Christ until it reached the consciousness of the Brotherhood of Christ. 

The second coming of Christ is an individual matter for prepared minds who become disciples of Christ by the Holy Spirit in their hearts. 

This second coming of Christ takes place in the inner consciousness of man, when his soul has matured and his mind has reached on its journey a state of consciousness that is purified from selfishness and attracts Christ. (This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased). This state of inner consciousness manifests itself outwardly and man through the senses and mind can see this act of the coming of Christ as a real reality that is real and is taking place in his soul and mind.

All changes for humanity take place first in their souls, and only then in the physical world. 

The good news is that the Kingdom is already established, it just has to come down to Earth when the minds of people ascend to heaven (that is, they will reach the Christ Consciousness). 

And when they are in the Christ Consciousness, they look with the eyes of God and see that the Kingdom is everywhere and that the minds of people who think they are separated from God see with a distorted view, they see an appearance, illness, lack, evil, war, injustice, slavery, which is not real, because it is an appearance in their minds. In the Christ Consciousness, which is unity with the Father, the true reality is seen, Health, Abundance of all good, Goodness, Love, Peace, Tranquility, Unity.

A TESTIMONIAL

WE ARE pleased to print the following letter of appreciation from a young student of The Way Out Correspondence Course—a young man of 19, who we feel is an old soul who is carefully preparing his outer instrument for the work he came here to do.—The EDITOR,

I FEEL a great urge to write you of some of the things that have come to me since my study of The Way Out Course. There are so few people, so very few, who know the Truth, I often wish I could talk, by letter, to someone who does know. I think of you often, at The Sun Center, and although I have seen only one of your representatives, I feel very close to all of you, even as if I have always known you.

Truly, since I have tried to follow the instructions in The Way Out, God has become very much nearer and dearer to me. I am becoming-more able to discern His loving Voice from that of self, which previously has brought so much trouble to me. God has revealed to me some "mysteries," which I feel are really very wonderful ones.

Before I relate any of them, let me say that they all have come to me, not in meditation in my room, but, on the contrary, in the turmoil of the business world, in my office in New York.

To The Way Out Statement, "God loves and cares for me and is giving me all good things. I love Him and think His thoughts and do only the things He wants me to do,"I have always felt a great response, ever since I first read it. I ponder over it, and everytime it comes to my mind—which I am glad is very, very often—I say it over and over again.

One day I said to myself, "This statement is wonderful, but it does not say anything about loving others. The only thing it says I am to love is God. What about people and things?"

Then after a time of much brooding over the words, "I love Him" the great illumination came in words similar to the following:

"My child, before you can consciously love Me, you must learn to know Who I Am and What I Am. Listen!

"I Am all that IS, was, or ever will be. There is none other than I. Have you not heard the statement that God is All in all? If I, God, Am All in all, then think, what happens when you consciously and truly love Me? You will then love Me in all "condemnation, and hate "Look through all appearances of people and things, no matter how real they may seem to you, and you will always find Me."

It may interest you to know when this came to me I had not yet read the Lesson on "God is All in all" in The Way Beyond Course. This is then the great "mystery" of Divine Love, which teaches and guides us in our every need.

Out of the above came to my mind the question of marriage. I thought of the statement in the Bible, which says that in Heaven there is no marriage. I used to think that this meant after we died. Now, knowing that death does not bring us to a heaven off somewhere, and that Heaven is here for us to abide in now, I received the following illumination. I can remember that it came to me while I was waiting for the elevator in our office building.

God told me, in that unmistakable way of His, that Heaven is a place in which no self of any kind exists, or in other words, it is a state of mind in which only selfless thoughts come to one. In this state one sees only Christ and His Perfection in all people and things. One knows oneself to be not flesh and blood, but spirit. Therefore the outer marriage would not exist as such, for it is but of the flesh and of the carnal nature and its selfish love. All there are married to Christ, Who is the Bride or Bridegroom of every soul, and of Whom the most perfect man or woman is but a very faint reflection. There we would not mistake our love for another as applying to that one's person, but we would know that the only thing there is to love is God, for God is All in all.

I did not put this down as it came, nor is it very convincing as I have written it; but the Truth thus revealed to me was so great that mere words could never tell it. I think you. will understand what I mean.

I had always wanted to bless money as I handled it, but because I had been unable to make myself do what I wanted it to do. I failed. Since I have been trying to apply what was given me to do, I have blessed money quite regularly as I gave it to others, knowing that it is but a symbol of Love and Service to others.

I could write on and on of the revelations that have come, but these few are enough to show you what is resulting from my study and meditation upon these truths. When such come, I am filled with an overpowering Joy and Peace, which cannot be gained from anything in this outer world.

Believe me when I say I want to make the finding of the Kingdom FIRST and supreme in my life. I want to "wait upon the Lord every moment of the day." I want to give up all and follow Him. I know that self is in the process of being crucified —for it cries out in a great fear. I know that the Resurrection morning is approaching, and that the death of the self is but a matter of time. Then shall I ascend unto My Father and my God, and I shall know that we and All are One.

All kinds of negative thoughts are trying to claim my attention and interest. Sometimes, I am ashamed to say, I do give them attention; at other times it is all that I can do not to give it them. Yet God has promised that out of both shall come a great Joy, and that if I persist I will attain "absolute freedom from lack and limitation of every kind."

May God bless you all, dear ones, and may He bless millions of others as He is blessing me.

SOUL COMMUNION

"DEAR FATHER, how may I always know what is Truth, when I read or hear others speak, so that I may not be deceived or be wrongly taught or guided."

"Dear One, you need but to keep the mind stilled with its concern and turned within to Me, listening carefully to My quiet Voice and to what I will always say about what is being read or heard. By training yourself to keep the right side of your mind (if a man, or the left side, if a woman) as it were, listening for and noting what thus comes from without, and the left (or other) side turned to and listening to Me within, and I will always from within point out what I want you to accept or reject. And if you listen carefully I will then further explain or amplify what is read or said, so that you may know all that I intend when causing you to pay attention to any particular statement that arouses interest or concern.

"Try to realise that I Am always within watching over and directing all that you do, inspiring in you a desire to hear a certain speaker, to receive certain teachings, or to read a certain book, or causing you to enter upon a certain experience, no matter what it is, for purposes of My own—but always for your guidance and instruction. And whether you are aware of it or not, I Am always teaching you during such experience, which causes you to react as you do; for that which impels or urges you to do or say anything is My Voice, but speaking so silently that you know it not as a voice, but as the most common thing in your life.

"For from the very beginning, in earliest childhood, I have been thus leading you through experience after experience, teaching you everything you have learned; and I but used parents, brothers and sisters, playmates, friends, employers, teachers and preachers in the outer as the means, through what they said or did, to impress upon your mind's consciousness what I wanted you to learn and do.

"You must admit that from childhood you have been led by something within to do everything that you have done; that of yourself often you did not want to do as you felt urged to do, and you rebelled—but to no effect, you had to do it; and were either sorry or glad, according to whether or not you got the lesson from the experience at the time. That 'something' was I compelling you, and endeavoring to teach you what I wanted you to learn; and from the experience, whether what you did was 'good' or 'bad,' as the world judges it, more or less good resulted, in that I was able to impress more or less of the truth the experience was intended to teach.

"I know that you may not accept that I Am responsible for and cause you to do all that you do—especially if it be 'evil,' but if evil tendencies are still in you, and you still respond to them, only by causing you to respond can I thus bring forcibly to your attention the results of such acts, with their penalty of inharmony and unhappiness; and only then can I get you to listen to My quiet Voice speaking within when I point out the lesson of such experience.

"Yes, I Am always within, and I always know best what experience you need, for I alone know your weaknesses and shortcomings and what is necessary to round out your character and perfect you for My highest expression in this life. So you may know that every experience, every teacher, teaching or book that I attract to you is brought to teach you some lesson you need to learn—but which lesson may be the exact opposite of what the book, teacher or teaching tries to teach."

"Do you require, dear Father, that I accept everything that the Inner Voice says in simple faith? And how may I know when it is YOUR Voice speaking and not the voice of self? I require you to accept nothing, especially when you are not sure it is I speaking. For the very fact of your uncertainty proves that you do not hear clearly when I speak. When I speak with authority you obey unhesitatingly—even though afterward you may think that you made a mistake. Yet I led you through that seeming mistake purposely in order to teach you what was not the right way; for without that experience you could not hear and understand My word when pointing you the right way. When I speak quietly and without authority, and you do not clearly hear, it is then that you do not get My meaning, and which causes you to doubt, hesitate and hear.

As for always knowing when I speak and when it is the voice of self that speaks, this you must first learn—to know all aboutself and its ways. That is why you have a mind and a body that are seemingly far from perfect—they are what your mind believes is so. What your mind believes yourself and your body to be is what is now manifesting. Therefore, it is necessary for Me to perfect your mind in understanding, so that it may know Me as I Am, and let Me teach it consciously the truth of all things; and that I am doing, by the training and discipline I am giving it in all kinds of life experiences, permitting it to commit sins and make the mistakes it does; until it has learned to know with surety when I speak, and when I show it what is not the right way in all conditions of life, and will just naturally then do and go only the right way.

In this way only is discrimination gained, by perfecting the mind and all its faculties so that it will be a selfless and obedient servant for My use. Only then will it leam perfectly to know My Voice and not be deceived by the voice of self. For discrimination is the faculty of knowing and obeying unerringly My Voice when it speaks; and no one who does not possess a perfectly developed mind and trained intellect ever attains it.

"Dear Father, may I ask just who You are? I know you are my real Self—but what is that Self? Is it my Soul, my Christ Self, or my Father in Heaven?"

"Listen, My Son, and know the truth. I who now speak, and who have spoken, taught and guided you from earliest childhood, Am your real and only Self. I Am the soul of you, the Father of your human mind, in that I have extended My Consciousness and Life in you in this life, even as I extended it in many bodies in many lives in ages past; and you in this life are as much of God's or the One Consciousness as I have unfolded, and as much spiritual understanding as I have gained from all past experience and Am able to convey to your brain-mind, and which I Am giving it as fast as I can develop and prepare it to receive it.

"But even as I Am equipping your brain-mind for My use in the outer world, that you under My guidance may master all the forces of your lower nature; so is My Father in Heaven equipping Me as a soul, as fast as He can unfold in Me the fullness of His Love and His Wisdom, so that He can express His Christ Nature in Me and I in turn in you, even as He is expressing it in Heaven.

"But try to realize that as God is All in all, He is All that I and you are, and only when He has grown us to where the Christ, His Holy Spirit, shining in the midst of Me, can come forth and illumine perfectly My Consciousness as a soul and yours as a mind, can they be wholly One with His Consciousness, and thereby wide open channels through which He can express perfectly His Christ Nature. And then only can you know with Me that I Am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

"For then we will be truly One, will dwell in and BE His Consciousness, will know all things, will be all Love, and will have all Power."

PSALM 23

I AM your shepherd; do not fear the illusion of want. I make you lie down in green pastures, I lead you beside still waters. I restore your soul, I lead you in paths of righteousness for my name's sake. Yes, even though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, fear no evil, for I AM with you; I AM your Support and Comforter. I prepare abundance for you in the presence of your enemies, I enlighten your mind with Truth; I let your heart overflow with My Love. Goodness and Mercy accompany you all the days of your life, as you abide with Me in the Consciousness of My FATHER forever.

Amen.

I SHALL NEVER WANT

"The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want." Psalms 23:1

The 23rd Psalm is the best known of all the Psalms—we might say that it is the keynote to the message of the Bible.

It tells man he shall never want, when he has the realization (or conviction) that the Lord is his Shepherd: the realization that Infinite Intelligence supplies every need.

If you get this conviction today, every need will be met now and forever-more; you will draw, instantly, from the abundance of the spheres, whatever you desire or require; for what you need is already on your pathway.

A woman suddenly had the realization: "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall never want." She seemed to be touching her invisible supply, she felt outside of Time and Space, she no longer relied on the external.

Her first demonstration was a small, but necessary one. She needed at once, some large paperclips, but had no time to go to a stationer's to buy them.

In looking for something else, she opened a little-used chest, and in it, she found, about a dozen large paper-clips. She felt that the law was working, and gave thanks; then some needed money appeared, things large and small came her way.

Since then she has relied upon the statement: "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall never want."

We used to hear people say, "I do not think it is right to ask God for money or things."

They did not realize that this Creative Principle is within each man.—(The Father within). True Spirituality is proving God as your supply, daily—not just once in a while.

Jesus Christ knew this law, for whatever He desired or required, appeared immediately on His pathway, the loaves and fishes and money from the fish's mouth.

With this realization, all hoarding and saving would disappear.

This does not mean that you should not have a big bank account, and investments, but it does mean that you should not depend upon them, for if you had a loss in one direction, you would have a gain in another.

Always "your barns would be full and your cup flow over."

Now, how does one make this contact with his invisible supply? By taking a statement of Truth which clicks and gives him realization.

This is not open to a chosen few, "Whosoever calleth on the name of the Lord shall be delivered." The Lord is your shepherd and my shepherd and everybody's shepherd.

God is the Supreme Intelligence devoted to supplying man's need; the explanation is, that man is God in action. Jesus Christ said, "I and the Father are one."

We might paraphrase the statement and say, I and the great Creative Principle of the Universe, are one and the same.

Man only lacks when he loses his contact with this Creative Principle, which must be fully trusted, for it is Pure Intelligence and knows the way of Fulfillment.

The reasoning mind and personal will, cause a short circuit.

"Trust in me and I will bring it to pass."

Most people are filled with apprehension and dread, when there is nothing to cling to on the external.

A woman came to a practitioner and said, "I'm only a poor little woman with no one but God back of me." The practitioner said,—"You need not worry if you have God back of you," for "all that the Kingdom affords is yours."

A woman called me on the phone and said, almost in tears, "I'm so worried about the business situation." I replied, "The situation with God remains the same: The Lord is your Shepherd: you shall not want." "If one door shuts, another door opens."

A very successful business-man who conducts all affairs on Truth methods, said, "The trouble with most people is, that they get to relying on certain conditions. They haven't enough imagination to go forward—to open new channels."

Nearly every big success is built upon a failure.

I was told that Edgar Bergen lost his part in a Broadway production because they did not want any more dummies. Noel Coward got him on the Rudy Vallee radio hour, and he and Charlie McCarthy became famous over night.

I told the story, at one of my meetings, of a man who was so poor and discouraged, that he ended it all. A few days later, came a letter notifying him that he had inherited a large fortune.

A man in the meeting said: "That means, when you want to be dead, your demonstration is three days off." Yes, do not be fooled by the darkness before the dawn.

It is a good thing to see the dawn once in a while, to convince you how unfailing it is. It reminds me of an experience of several years ago.

I had a friend who lived in Brooklyn near Prospect Park. She liked to do unusual things and said to me: "Come to visit me and we'll get up early and see the sun-rise in Prospect Park."

At first I refused, and then came the hunch that it would be an interesting experience.

It was in the summer. We got up about four o'clock,—my friend, her little daughter and myself. It was pitch dark, but we sallied forth down the street, to the entrance of the Park.

Some policemen eyed us curiously, but my friend said to them with dignity, "We are going to see the sun-rise;" and it seemed to satisfy them. We walked through the Park to the beautiful rose-garden.

A faint pink streak appeared in the East, then suddenly, we heard a most tremendous uproar. We were near the Zoo and all the animals were greeting the dawn.

The lions and tigers roared, the hyenas laughed, there were shrieks and howls: every animal had something to say, for a new day was at hand.

It was indeed, most inspiring. The light slanted through the trees; everything had an unearthly aspect.

Then, as it grew lighter, our shadows were in front instead of behind us. The dawn of a new day!

This is the wonderful dawn which comes to each one of us, after some darkness.

Your dawn of Success, Happiness and Abundance is sure to come.

Every day is important, for we read in the wonderful Sanskrit poem, "Look well, therefore, to this day, such is the salutation of the dawn."

This day the Lord is your Shepherd! This day, you shall not want; as you and this great Creative Principle are one and the same.

The 34th Psalm is also a Psalm of security. It starts with a blessing for the Lord, "I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth."

"They that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing." Seeking the Lord means that man must make the first move. "Draw near to me and I will draw near to thee, saith the Lord."

You seek the Lord by making your affirmation, expecting and preparing for your good.

If you ask for success and prepare for failure, you will receive the thing you have prepared for.

I tell in my book, "The Game of Life and How to Play It," of a man who asked me to speak the word that all his debts be wiped out.

After the treatment, he said, "Now I'm thinking what I'll say to the people when I haven't the money to pay them." A treatment won't help you if you haven't faith in it, for faith and expectancy impress the subconscious mind with the picture of fulfillment.

In the 23rd Psalm we read, "He restoreth my soul." Your soul is your subconscious mind and must be re-stored with the right ideas.

Whatever you feel deeply is impressed upon the subconscious, and manifests in your affairs.

If you are convinced that you are a failure, you will be a failure, until you impress the subconscious with the conviction you are a success.

This is done by making an affirmation which "clicks."

A friend in a meeting said that I had given her the statement as she was leaving the room—"The ground you are on is harvest ground." Things with her, had been very dull; but this statement clicked.

"Harvest Ground, Harvest Ground," rang in her ears. Good things immediately commenced to come to her, and happy surprises.

The reason it is necessary to make an affirmation is because repetition impresses the subconscious. You cannot control your thoughts at first, but you can control your words, and Jesus Christ said:"By your words you are justified and by your words you are condemned."

Every day, choose the right words; the right thoughts!

The Imaging faculty is the creative faculty: "Out of the imaginations of the heart come the issues of life."

We have all a bank we can draw upon, the Bank of the Imagination.

Let us imagine ourselves rich, well and happy: imagine all our affairs in divine order; but leave the way of fulfillment to Infinite Intelligence.

"He has weapons ye know not of," He has channels which will surprise you.

One of the most important passages in the 23rd Psalm is—"Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies."

This means that even in the presence of the enemy situation, brought on by your doubts, fears or resentments, a way out is prepared for you.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall never want.

A CHRISTMAS REVELATION

ON THE 25th of December the world celebrates Christmas as the birth of Jesus the Christ on earth, our Father God's first fruit of His Kingdom, His Word made manifest.

The story of His birth, the Three Wise Men of the East, His flight into Egypt, and the mystery of His life from the age of twelve to thirty when He was baptised by'John the Baptist in he river Jordan and attained the power to do the Will of His father in Heaven—all must be but symbols which cover up somehing beautiful and glorious that is awaiting to express in each of us, if we can only know what it is. So in my hour of meditaion and communion came this message and revelation:

My child, be still and listen while I tell you the true meaning if Christmas and how it applies to you and to every man on earth, and how the birth, life, teaching, trials, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension of Jesus are but symbolic outpicturings of what My birth and life in you will mean and accomplish—when you have grown able to wait upon and follow Me wherever I lead.

You think it is the birth of Jesus of Nazareth the world celebrates this day, because you have accepted this theory from your parents and from the world, and you have been satisfied with such theory until now, when in your earnest desire to know its true meaning you have become ready for Me to tell you of My birth in you.

Who am I?

I AM the Christ whom Jesus promised would come as a Comforter to every one who loved Him and followed His Teachings.

I was born in the stable of your heart, where all the animal forces of your nature come for shelter, and in the manger where they feed. I was born of a virgin, meaning that I came to birth in a consciousness purified by selfless Love, which is God's Holy Spirit come into expression.

The Three Wise Men of the East, Love, Wisdom and Power, saw My plight in this stable and came with the treasures of Their Consciousness and gave of them joyously to Me, that I might in your need give their aid to enable you to resist the world of men's creation, which They knew would seek to destroy Me.

Yes, dear child, I AM growing up in you and AM feeding and quickening every faculty of your mind with the truths taught (the True Bread of Life), so that you may become strong and capable of always obeying Me in your hour of need. And as I AM with you always, I AM inspiring all that you do and enabling you to accomplish it—as you learn to wait upon and look to Me for your help and strength.

So, My child, at this season especially AM I here, and havin heard you call I AM come. Be still and Know I AM ever in you—I AM you. Commune with Me that you may become fully acquainted with Me and may know Me as I AM, even as have known you from the beginning. Let not your heart to troubled, I AM always within, waiting to teach you and lead you into all Truth, yea, even unto Christhood, which is your Divin Birthright from God our Father.

I AM your rod and staff; lean on Me. I will be the manna when you come to the desert places of life. I will quench you thirst and be to you the True Bread of Life—no matter what you need—when you know Me as I AM.

Be still, My Son, and know that God is our Father within, in Whose Consciousness we all live, move and have our being. By still, and Know that I, the Christ, AM come. Abide in Me, and let this My Word abide in you, and I will lead you into All Truth even into the fullness of our Father's Consciousness, where yo may know Him even as I know Him.

Let this Christmas then be consecrated to Me, the Christ of you. Let Me have complete possession, so that all who come nead may feel Me, acknowledge Me, and turn and worship Me within their own hearts.

THE APPROACH OF CHRISTMAS.

What does Christmas mean to each of us? Let us consider this question. To some it means a happy recurring occasion of enjoyment, feasting, the exchange of gifts—a brief halt in the long term of winter. To others it is the celebration of the birth of the Holy Babe venerated by all Christians, no matter what their creed. To others it is a time of wistful longing for the coming to the moment of the birth within themselves of the Christ-Child. While to some others—blessed ones indeed—it is a season of rejoicing marking the already awakened and conscious Christ Presence within their own hearts.

Wherever we may find ourselves on this Spiritual journey to our own Bethlehem, let us begin to prepare for the Event with definite expectancy.

It has been truly said that the Bible may be read from several standpoints. Let us trace some of the features of the Gospel stories of the birth of Jesus, applying them to His coming anew to us.

It is noteworthy that Mary, His Mother, pure and dedicated maiden though she was, had to remove from her customary habitation and go to another heightened state of consciousness before Her own Son could be born to conscious life. She moved to Bethlehem, or the House of Bread. She made that journey on a lowly ass, a creature symbolizing humility, patience and dedication as seen in the cross on his back. Once in Bethlehem, she sought shelter in one of the cave-rooms hollowed out in the rocks, prepared for humble pilgrims for whom there was no place in the Inn. Withdrawn from the come and go of the world—hid in a secret place—watched over by dedicated hearts, and by humble creatures—the Christ Child was born.

Let us learn from this story how to prepare for this Great Event. Let us rise from our customary mental state to one of definite expectancy. The seed of the Divine Child has lain within us for long ages waiting the ripening and fruitage. We have all longed for this birth.

Let us realize that by cooperation with Divine Eternal Law we can experience this conscious birth within. We can provide the atmosphere—the spiritual and mental location in which it may take place. In other words, our dedication, our humility, or the dethronement of the lesser self, in its various phases, and our ardent longing will prepare the place of birth.

And these preparatory qualities are vitally necessary. Just as the vitality within the seed of a plant requires warmth, moisture and darkness to spring into quickened life, so the Divine Seed requires similar conditions. Let us prepare to keep the Feast, and let us do it day by day dedicating sufficient time to prayer, meditation and contemplation. So will the rarer state of pure Spirit illumination be reached, the consequence of which, in due time, brings the quickening of the Christ Child.

If some such preparation for Christmas is definitely and prayer fully considered and put into effect, we shall find that we have entered into and become a part of certain Unseen Powers of the Cosmos. At definite times and seasons These have worked together under the Divine Will to bring onto this earth great embodiments of the Will, Wisdom and Love of God. Such as were culminated and crowned in the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. As in the macrocosm so in the microcosm. The birth of the Christ must sometime come individually to all men, that is the destiny of man. Shall He be born in you this Christmas-tide?

The Way to the Kingdom.

It was very dark and on a great endless field, all the armies of the world, from all periods of world history, from all nations, races, continents, from all ages of humanity, marched together against one enemy. Each soldier had in his heart the image of one common enemy. From that great darkness on the horizon, light slowly appeared. All the armies of the world were preparing for the enemy. Suddenly, a GREAT LIGHT came out, so radiant and beautiful, full of PEACE AND LOVE, it was CHRIST JESUS.

At one moment, in all the hearts of the soldiers, this LIGHT illuminated their minds and they realized that their enemy was CHRIST (LOVE), and that all along they had been fighting against themselves, against their own LIGHT in their hearts.

Thus, all the armies of the world dissolved in the LIGHT OF LOVE. So, everything that is happening in the world is good. Everything is God's Will, it is enough to see this Truth, to be that Truth. To see with the eyes of God that the human racial mind, fighting against the enemy, but does not know that it is fighting against LOVE, which is God's expression in humanity.

"THE LIGHT WHICH LIGHTETH EVERY MAN".

IT IS fitting at the Christmas season, when all Christians are celebrating the birth of the Christ, that those traveling the journey to theKingdom should strive to realize fully what that birth has meant and now means to each one who experienced it.Therefore try to recall that experience in your life—when you first felt the quickening of the Christ-child (Love) in the womb of your heart, when it began to stir actively there, not only making you very conscious of its presence, but compelling you to cherish, serve, and worship it; until finally, when undergoing some deep, soul-stirring experience, the day of delivery came, and there was born from within a new consciousness—a yearning to love and bless and to help everyone to come into that new world of understanding you had entered, and which now is the all-compelling spirit of your life.You will remember that this experience came when you were shepherding your thoughts during the night period, when all seemed most dark and you were sustained only by the faith born of your long seeking. It was then that a glow of wonderful light flooded your night of waiting, and a song as of angels filled your consciousness. In deepest humility you sought to know the meaning of it all, and you soon found there was cradled in your heart a tender, beautiful, all-compelling love, that from then on filled and possessed you, and gradually grew in power until it influenced and inspired much of your thinking, speech, and actions.Surely at the Christmas season we should remember the birth of the Christ-child, especially now that we know that It is the actual love of our Father- God—His Holy Spirit, growing, thriving, working in our hearts, seeking to merge our whole nature— body, mind and soul—with His Nature, that He may without hindrance live His life in us, do His will in us, and be His Christ-self in us.

Ah, dear ones, let us not only remember, but let us open our hearts wide that He, the Blessed One, may come forth and possess us and do with us as He wills. May we dedicate ourselves wholly to Him, letting His Love be our life, and our bodies and brain minds His perfect means of expression.It is true that some who read may deem the above but words, it having no real meaning for them, the Christ-child not yet having been quickened in their hearts. To such we would say with Jesus,

"Verily, verily I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God."

Like Nicodemus, they may be masters of Israel and have great occult knowledge of the law and of the inner worlds, but unless they are born of the water of Divine Inspiration and of the spirit of Christ-Love, they can never find and enter the Kingdom.In the preceding chapter, Aspirants were reminded of that point reached on the Path where they had more or less consciously renounced the old life and were quickened into a new consciousness; the Christ-child had been born in their hearts; the Prodigal had started on his return journey to his Father's house; the dedication of the Aspirant to the higher life had been registered and he had become a Disciple on Probation.It was at this point that you actually started out to seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Whether you were aware of it or not in your brain consciousness, your soul had unfolded to the stage where it saw its Father's house afar off; and now it no longer can find rest until it reaches home and can abide there forever.Along with the birth of the love-nature there awakens the desire to serve selflessly, and from then on according to the extent that Love is permitted to grow and lead, will the Disciple gradually become aware of a voice within which speaks when-ever it gets the attention of the conscious mind. It will be no audible voice, and there may be no actually heard words, but nevertheless something speaks within and the Disciple will hear and understand.

He will also note that when he heeds and obeys a blessing in some form follows, but when he fails to obey the hints or "leadings" given, failure, trouble and often suffering result. Thus the Disciple gradually learns of his higher and inner nature, and that it is unmistakably related to Love; more and more he finds himself turning within and seeking to know more of this inner self and he strives to let it guide and direct him in all things.As he thus definitely gives his allegiance to Love and to his better self, he is made aware of qualities in his lower nature rising unexpectedly to prominence and displaying elements of selfishness and baseness that surprise and startle him. For the lower self that had held a dominating part so long in his life is not yielding without a battle—in fact it is fighting for its very existence.It is then you begin to realize that the Path upon which you have entered is not an easy one. The fact is, in the conquering of the lower self, you are assuming a task that will test you to the limit of your strength and endurance. But you will gradually discover that from the same source that comes the Voice will also come the strength needed to conquer and to sustain you along the way. Also you will learn that loving and selfless service releases the strength and gives the wisdom to meet every test, for while serving you are enlisted in the Cause of Brotherhood and in such work the Great Brotherhood of the Spirit always supplies all the wisdom and the strength needed to accomplish it.[* Read in connection with the foregoing the first two chapters of "Brotherhood."]For you who are truly seeking the Kingdom, the time has come to hear certain truths, to see if your Higher Self deems you ready to receive and accept these truths and to make them a part of your soul consciousness. If so they will bring to you an illumination of understanding that will quicken your soul, free your mind from what has been holding you back perhaps for many lifetimes, and will con-sequently now permit you speedily to proceed on your journey.But if you are not yet ready to accept these truths it is well, for your Higher Self has certain necessary experiences in store for you, from which He will be enabled later to teach you to accept them and to want to follow us on our way to the Kingdom.

Consider first the real meaning of these words spoken to His Disciples by the Christ of Jesus-

"I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father but by Me."Can the Divinity within any man be reached by any but the Christ Way?These words of our Master tell us definitely, No. Many of you who read may have come along the route of Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, Spiritualism, and other occult movements, and according to your study and understanding of what they teach you have an intellectual grasp of much knowledge of the constitution of man and of the Universe, of the laws of matter, and of the hidden side of life, which should be a great aid to you in governing your life and actions—up to a certain point. These, movements help man very considerably to know himself and thereby enable him to gain mastery over qualities and elements in his nature whose influence before was not understood. Such knowledge should dispose him to deal more kindly and justly with his fellows who are of like nature. But does that always result in those who have all the knowledge that these movements teach?Those who gave this knowledge to the world through these different movements are said to be Masters of Wisdom, Adepts, Initiates, or at least very learned Teachers. Unquestionably some of them are of vast knowledge and powers, those whohave far outstripped ordinary humanity—Supermen—our elder brothers, judging from what they taught and what they know. It is their due that we honor, revere and be grateful to them for all they have taught us, and we certainly should strive to use the knowledge gained wisely and for the good of all.But who was the real teacher who pointed out in the teachings that which you were to accept and which to pass by? Who helped you to apply the truths in the teaching to the experiences of life through which you were led?

And who guided and chided and cautioned, and always held before your mind's eye the ideal toward which your face has ever been turned? Was there not One within you who did all this, and Who has a purpose for you and a part for you to play—when you are through seeking without for what the world and its teachers have to offer and you are ready to turn within and get fully acquainted with Him, and are willing to wait upon Him and to sit at His feet and to be consciously taught by Him?We say to you who have been "born again," you within whom the Christ has been born—you Disciples on Probation, that One is your Master—even the Christ-Self of you, Who has more knowledge and power than any initiate, adept or master who has not received the anointing of the Holy Spirit—who has not yet been Christed. For such are but "masters of Israel," like Nicodemus. They are great souls, even as John the Baptist was great, of whom Jesus said:"This is he of whom it was written, behold I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. "For I say unto you, among them that are born of woman, there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist; but he that is least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he."—Matthew 11:10-11.Just as John the Baptist lost his head, so may even one of great knowledge lose his head (men- tally) unless he has wedded wisdom with Love.Such Masters who inaugurate new movements for the enlightenment of men in our modern days are as the Prophets of Old Testament times. They may be considered as the lower part of the pyramid. They represent the great body of human knowledge, or the Law, and "The Law is the schoolmaster to bring us to Christ." Jesus Christ is the capstone of the pyramid. But it often happens that He is"the stone that the Builders rejected, the same that is become the head of the corner."The capstone itself being a perfect pyramid, Christ thus is the Apex, the Zenith, the Essence of all that lies beneath.

It shall be even as Jesus said:

"He that falleth on this stone (stumbles against this truth—fails to see Christ, not merely as the Master and Teacher, but as the God-Self of every man) shall be broken to pieces; but on whomsoever it shall fall (or who shall fail to accept or admit this truth) it will scatter as dust."

For Christ is the actual life of humanity —The Light that lighteth every man, consequently they who repudiate Him, and consider and teach that He is only a Master among other Masters, remain in darkness and wander far from their Father's house.Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, and other similar movements brought to the modern world the vision of Brotherhood. And for what purpose? It is claimed, to awaken men to their real mission on earth and to prepare them for HIM WHO IS TO COME,—for the Christ who promised to come and redeem His own.But can you not see that not until He has been born in our hearts, has grown and thrived, and become matured in our lives, can He appear to our consciousness and can make Himself known as He Is—"The Light which shineth in the darkness"of our human minds, and which He will illumine so we may know that our minds are really His Mind, are God's Mind shining within us.Ah, dear comrades on this journey through life, all the vast past—all the many eons through which humanity has struggled—has been an evolving, a growing, a preparing and fitting of us for this very day and age we have now reached. The Christian Era was the final stage of our training. God, our Father, Who is responsible for all, Himself sent His Holy Spirit, the Christ, down to earth, taking on a human form, purposely to prepare us by direct teaching and example what was necessary for us to find our way back to His Home and to enter again into His Eternal Kingdom. Therefore Christ--Christ within us is our highest Teacher, and the sole Authority for every man—for He is

"the Light which lighteth every man that cometh into the world."

There is much said in the different occult teachings of two paths to God—the path of the occultist, and the path of the mystic, or the way of the head and the way of the heart. Yet all great teachers say that the way to Divinity is the way of Love; and surely the way of Love is the way of the heart. But the Love that leads to God is not the intellectual concept of love that occultists speak of, but is God's Love in the heart—the Christ Consciousness there—which cannot be simulated, and which all those in whom Christ has been born and lives know and show forth, and they can never be deceived by a substitute.Gautama brought the teaching of Divine Wisdom and Compassion to develop and prepare the mind of humanity to comprehend God's Love. And even as Gautama came first and brought Wisdom, so Jesus followed and brought us Divine Love to join with Wisdom and give us Understanding, thus completing the Divine Union in Christ of the twain that in the beginning were originally one.We might say Gautama was the manifested Mind of God and Jesus the manifested Heart of God, God having evolved the mind of humanity to the point where it was now ready to know Him in the fullness of His Nature; so He showed Himself to us in the person of Jesus—His Beloved Son—the Fruit of His Divine Love—the First-fruit of them that slept.If you are able to receive it, you will soon have done with all intellectual teachings, and you will be interested only in those brought to you by the Loving One within, that He may point out to you the laws and truths He wishes you to know, thus recalling to you the knowledge gained in the long, long past. For if you can realize it, it was through many past, long forgotten lives, extending over vast eons of time, that He brought you to your present state of unfoldment; and therefore in your soul there is much knowledge at present hidden from your brain mind that soon He will uncover to you.But before that can be, a far more important matter confronts you—the finding and knowing of Him, your True Self—the Christ within you, so that He can reveal to you these and all things, when you need to know them. Throughout this eon He has spoken from the heart of every awakened soul--

"Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all things else will be added unto you." Christ has been the Great Mystery of all ages. Once you comprehend Him you can know All, for all mysteries lead to Him, and He is the solution of all. All the Prophets of old foretold His Coming. The story of Moses and the children of Israel; the story of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden,—all are parables telling of Him—the Lord Christ, to prepare us for His Coming. Likewise the ancient religions of India, Egypt, Chaldea, and Atlantis ever held forth to the humanity of their days the sacred Mystery of the One we know as Christ. Verily He is the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End of all things. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God."All things were made by Him (the Word); and without Him was not anything made that was made."In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in the darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not." 

Read and meditate on the above and with it the remainder of the first chapter of John, especially up to the 19th verse.
